The symptoms:

1. Oil in the Intercooler
2. Massive amounts of smoke out the exhaust pipe.

Im pretty sure these are the symptoms of a dead turbo. But what if I told you that the turbo is brand new?

THe turbo is brand new 0 miles on it. Start up the car, and im spraying for mosquitos. (Smoke)
So i shut her down, take the intercooler off and a #@%#@%#@%#@% load of oil pours out. Now when I say #@%#@%#@%#@% load I mean #@%#@%#@%#@% load. It had filled up the end tank.

So i didnt know what to think, so Saturday morning i take it all apart, drain the oil and coolant again, rebuild it DOUBLE CHECKING everything.
Crank it back up, and im spraying for mosquitos again.
Shut it down take the IC off and Deju VU hello Synthetic.

Now what do you guys think? I wanna hear some answers here because I am pissed. Could this be anything other than the turbo? Just want to make sure before I call and go Jihad on the company I purchased from.

doesnt sound like the rebuild your turbo the right if thats what your doing ?? thats all i can come up with ....thats what happens when turbos go they start blowing oil all over the place. just clean the hell out of it and hopefully you just got oil in the exhaust causing the smoke you will need to run it a while to burn all the oil out of the pipes keep an eye for oil leaks and oil presure. hope this helps some

Do you still have the stock vent hose from the valve cover to the intake pipe?

Yeah i should have mentioned that i cleaned it all out before i put it back together the second time. And the second time i did let it run and also reved up a couple times to see if the smoke went away. But when i reved, the smoke came out more.

Let me also add that the smoke is white, and my friend said that when i reved it also turned to blue.

Also the turbo was brand new from Turbochargers.com, THEY said that it was brand new from Mitsubishi. My install kit was from RRE. I followed the instructions for the install and prepped the lines with oil by disconecting the injectors, and all that good stuff.

Im thinking that maybe Turbochargers lied about it being new, and sent me a rebuilt one. Or maybe a manufacture defect from mitsu or something.

I just dont know what to think. One more thing though, on my T25 it was leaking oil into the IC and blowing the smoke also. BUT NOT NEARLY AS BAD as this one. PLUS on the T25 there was shaft play, there is no shaft play on this NEW turbo from turbochargers.

No the vent hose is not hooked up. The inlet on the injen pipe is capped, and there is a breather hose on the valve cover.

You mean oil still got into the IC after the rebuilt and cleaning? Basically, you want to know if the turbo is the one causing the problem or something else. It could be smoking from the motor instead of turbo.

I cleaned out the intercooler, intercooler piping,Jpipe and lower IC pipe, BOV, all clamps, hoses, and everything. THe injen intake pipe did not have oil in it, anywhere....

After the second try, there was oil through the jpipe, lower pipe and in the end tank of the intercooler.

id call them up and say heres your turbo Rebuild you sent me now send me a New one!!!!!

Hah YEAH i might use a different choice of words though. Because this #@%#@%#@%#@% has got me mad.

OH YEAH one thing i just noticed, IT appears that on the compressor housing someone scratched out part of the Number on it. I guess its like a turbo identification number?!?! But it has been scraped off and a 24 has been stamped into it.

call them up and let them know the number is scratced off ......it wouldnt be if it was new

I just went and took it all apart again, there is shaft play on the turbo. that really pisses me off.

I have the same issue. My turbo crapped on me and oil is in the charger pipe and everywhere else. It's also burning it like crazy. But this is what I found out. The bearings inside my turbo wore out terribly... (I know this because I can pull the compressor wheel more than a 1/4 inch towards the outside of the housing.) So.. when I spool up the turbo around 3000 rpm, the exhaust force is strong enough to cause the whole shaft to move that other 1/4 inch and allow the oil to leak into the air system. I don't know if this helps you or not, but I hope you get yours taken care of...
