Head Mechanics?

Rebuilding a head normally entails hot tanking, pressurized to check for cracks, new valve stem seals, check the valve guides, resurfacing, 3 angle valve job, & reassembly. I just had all of this done locally for $125 (new valves & valve guides would be additional, but I didn't need any)... which is about average from what I found. I've heard of people paying alot more but it's not worth it. Also DO NOT let them port your head unless they really know what they are doing w/ import/motorcyle heads.

you could always go for the 7 angle valve job =0) you might as well have the head ported while its out of the car and open it up
Just my 0.02 cents

Porting shouldn't be done, like Kevin said, by just anyone.

Opening it up usually causes more harm than good on turbo cars.

I just had done as well locally, and I had them clean it up. Not a so called "ported" head, but the majority of the casting marks were removed, and it looks pretty nice. 5-angle valve job, and what ever else Ken posted, it cost me $215.

yes dont go with some guy with one eye and a diegrinder with twitchey hands and smells like weed.

I prolly won't get any porting done..I am not looking for any really deep 1/4 mile times..and a stock head is good for high 11s..which I am not even thinking about, right now ;) All what was mentioned by Kevin is gonna run me 185$, not too bad
