Hey-
I just put my Weisco 9:1 pistons on my Eagle rods. I couldnt' find a good write-up on how to install the pistons on the rods, so I put the retaining clip in, put assembly lube on the wrist pin, slid it in, and put the 2nd clip on. Was this right? Everything looks ok and moves ok.

Second question, the diagram for the Weisco's show that the pistons must be facing all the same way, but it doesn't say which way. Can you tell by the pic which way should be installed?

there's markings on the rods which have to point towards the left side of the motor ... I would assume the markings on the pistons should face so they are also read from the left side. That's how I did my last block ( ross / eagle ) and everything was fine....

One thing I forgot to mention ... look at the valve relief sizes as well

For the markings on the rods, does that mean the lettering stamped on them? Thats the only marks I can see.

The pistons don't have arrows on them like the stockers do, they have a little dot drilled into the piston however. You can kinda see it in the pics. If the lettering on the pistons are right side up, the dot is to the left of them.

The valve reliefs look the same from top to bottom.

Make sure your pins are sized corectly for your rods. Eagle rods are common for being off and not round.

Think of the dot as the arrow on the stock pistons :thumb: Good luck with your build up.

If you are looking at the motor as if it was in the car the numbers in the piston would be upside down...closest to the exhaust side. (Pin offset towards exhaust side)

Alright, so the dots on the piston go towards the drivers side. What are the markings on the rods though? Does it matter which way they go?

The rods should just all be pointing in the same direction. I believe there are numbers or letters on one side of the rod where the bolts go kinda. Make sure those are all the same way, thats all.

Tangs for the bearings face the exhaust side if you want to duplicate the stock configuration. If the pistons are already mounted just do as was mentioned before, big valve releifs go on the intake side.

it might be a good idea if you took a piece of fine sandpaper such as #320 and rounded all the sharp edges on the dome of your pistons.

I had Buschur de-burr them so they don't feel harsh. They aren't completely rounded though, I'll take a look at that.

nice set-up. got the same set-up going into mines.
How far along are you?
