Ladysmith,
Hey guys,

If one of you more experience guys was going to build a 2.4 on a budget, what would you do to the bottom end?...My plan is to get it running, then upgrade as i go...so because of the budjet, i'd like to get all the internal stuff done once...so i dont have to take the time to tear it apart again, and $ replacing gaskets etc. Project power hoping for = 5-600hp (a year after i start, which is a month from now.

So...what would, and wouldn't you guys invest in? Some things are more ovious like ARP head studs...etc but how about kinfe edging the crank? worth it?, and other lil things, are they nessicary for my power goals?

What brands of rods and pistons would you guys go for to handle this kinda power on a budjet...I plan on gettin the 1g dsmlink that should be out any time now....I will build up the short block, toss on the head, get the 2.4 running then leave with the stock turbo for awhile (i know it wont like it), and stock everythig else and upgrade throughout the year, I also wanted to ask, what do u guys think would be the best turbo for my 2.4 goals, able to hit full boost by 4500 5000rpm...(or higher is needed)...gt37?....FP3065 BB? T4?...

Any other thoughts on my upcoming project are welcome as well.

Thanks guys,

Wayne

If you are on a budget I would go with eagle rods and wiseco pistons. You dont need to knife edge your crank. ARP hardware is a good way to bolt everything together. I would go with a cometic head gasket. If this was my project the only thing I would do differnt is go with pauter rods and ross pistons but they are going to cost you extra $$.

Ok, well, how much more would it kill me, cause if its not too bad, would it be worth it in the long run?, or will the eagle/wiseco combo hande 5-600 hp?

And any turbo opinions?

thanks

Wayne

Any 2.4 guys out there?....I'd like to hear some stories/advice on this.

Thanks,

The eagle/wiseco combo can handle that and probably more, the pauter/ross can handle more than you will most likely make and give you that added reliabilty.

Ok, what would you go for turbo-wise...?

And does anyone know a good dealer for canada...like gettin pistons/rods for reasonable prices up here.

Thanks

Wayne

Magnus sell ross/pauter, as for something more local I am not to sure. For a turbo you would want to run like a GT35R, FP 3065, 56 trim, T4 something big.

I just found an insane deal on exaclty what i need...comes with pauter/ross..unassembled too..so i still get to do the fun stuff....yeh i'm looking into it and im thinkin fp3065...lil pricey tho!
