Chilliwack,
hi there. I am thinking about getting one of these manual boost controllers. At www.boostcontroller.com they sell only these 2, and say that they are the best kind,(non-bleed) As well they are pretty cheap.

What advantage does each have? are they reliable? what disadvantages do they have over other manual boost controllers?

also, and this is big. Does anyone know where to get these things from a Canadian supplier?? That $45.00 part will end up costing my over $100 bucks if I pay exchange, duty, tax, s/h etc.

thanx

John

Joe P is for safety, and the Hallman is easier to adjust. They both will do the job though. Hallman is known for the Manual boost controller and they've tested it on some fast cars.

I have the Joe P. Joe has the most awesome customer service. Its sensitive but rock solid. If you lose the adjusting screw it won't overboost. I didn't give it much thought when I ordered mine I was just looking for cheap.

Recently my boost level dropped from 15 to 10. My controller got in a fight with the fan and lost. The adjusting screw was gone. I emailed Joe about a new screw and he emailed me back within minutes.

HALLMAN MBC! I had the Joe P. and it didn't last very long. Then I got the Hallman. Absolutely love it. For $30 more ($80 from Turbotrix) the Hallman has been tried and proven...time and time again on some of the fastest DSM in the country. It is also, IMO, put together MUCH better and is a VERY solid boost controller.

Well, just to even out the score, I vote for the Joe P. I have it and love it. I have mine set at 15psi and it hits it right on and stays there. Even at $100 bucks its still worth the peace of mind. Customer service gets the thumbs up also.

aargHH! :)

can someone who has had both tell me the bad things of each? Price really isn't an issue here, as the link in my first post sells them for the same price.

good info tho, anyone else?

I already mentioned that I have had both of them. The Joe P. "wore out" (spring) very quickly and was VERY sensitive to adjustment. I didn't like it. Alot of people do. I just had a bad experience with mine. Besides that it's not the most "well put together" MBC either.
When I got my Hallman I was initially impressed with how "hefty" it was. It was larger just looked like a better MBC. Hooked it up and haven't looked back since. It is nowhere near as sensitive and is easier to adjust as well. And like I said, it's just put together better. And for $30 more than the Joe P. I say it's worth every penny. But hey, this is just IMO.
