My 99' 7-bolt is being built up with the works by a reputable shop. I'm concerned about the oil system after the rebuild. Most shops seem to do the balance shaft removal, which increases oil pressure. In addition I've seen several recommendations (Magnus for one) to block off the piston oil squirters, thus raising oil pressure even more.
1.) Could this cause TOO high of oil pressure, which will lead to valve float (lifter lock) and possible tripping of the oil-filter by-pass valve ?
2.) Does anyone know how much each mod increases oil pressure by ?
3.) If the motor is 99% street and 1% track time, then shouldn't I keep the balance shafts, and possibly even the squirters ?
4.) If the balance shafts alone increase oil pressure, and I keep the piston squirters, isn't it possible that the increase in oil pressure will cause the oil squirters to be open at idle, when they should be closed ?
Thanx,
