Hey guys, im going to start my car on the tuning guide, hopefully to pull around 300 horse
it says i have a "gsx" but i really just have a turbo GS, the option wasnt there when i signed up...ok well the car...100% stock, im the first owner, its a 1991 GS turbo 5spd fwd, 50k miles on it, and fresh from a headgasket job. everything runs perfect, no problems whatsoever. I got the money and time to start. im gonna try to go with one specific brand, hopefully stillen. how is stillen? i used to think they are one of the best...maybe im wrong tho. is it better to mix up brands? or does it not matter...let me know if anyone has any ideas about anything
:dsm:

Do you have a gs thats been turbo'd or do you have a gst? These are 2 different cars. If it is a gs, keep the boost low or you will have problems. If its a gst, the compression is lower so more boost will be fine.

As far a stillen is concerned, you are just paying for the name. IMHO, stillen is way overpriced and customer sevice leaves a lot to be desired. You will be fine mixing parts from different manufacturers. If you are still unsure, just scroll through other peoples mod lists and see what they have, then go from there. Good luck with the buildup.

i might be wrong but i thought that like 1g fwd turbo still said gs on the back. but like i said i could be wrong. well good luck with your project :thumb:

haha this is wicked weird...its a gs turbo, from the factory turbo. its got a 2.0 doch 4 valve turbo...nobody else has this car?

No I have seen many early 1g's that were marked GS Turbo from the factory. It's just a GS-T but called a GS Turbo or whatever. FWD Turbo with the 4g63 and 14b.

In my opinion on the parts brand names. You definately dont need to stick with one brand to be effective, as a matter of fact mixing the brands should get you better performance. I think that some parts are better at A parts company while other parts are better from B parts company. You can also save lots of money on some things by making your own parts. Check out the tech article section, their are lots of great articles on DIY parts and tips on how to tune.

Their is also lots of reviews on parts located within this site, the key is just to do your research before you buy.

Good luck and have fun wrenching.

P.S. I also have a friend with a 91 GS with factory turbo, I think that GST was the actual badge used on the 2g's
