heres the deal. I can be drivin fine. The car runs nice. But sometimes, when i shift to fast, like racing or somethin, the car seems to bog out and loose power. If i shift slower it doesn't do it as much. If i shift fast and bog it, the let off and hit the gas again, it runs perfect. I don't understand what its doing. The turbo boosts fine, and i've got a 190 fuel pump. Whats makin me nuts now is i'm replacing things hoping it will go away and its not. I read a post about somebody saying something like this, but not exactly my problem, they said something about the cam sensor. What do you guys think?

First don't throw parts at it hoping to get lucky because you could spend a lot and not be any better off.
It does sound fuel related. Besides the bog are there any other symptoms? Does it smoke out the exhaust during the bog? How are the vacuum lnes that run rom the Fuel pressure regulator to the solenoid on the firewall? I have a 1G and that is the way the vacuum lines run from my regulator. Bog is usually caused by too much fuel/air and it seems when you shift quick the engine can't respond quickly and needs a few seconds to "catch up".
What gauges do you have and do you data log? A bit more info would help. mark

I'm glad your tryin to help, by throwin parts at it i meant mods. I figured eventually something would stop it. I thought it wasn't getting gas so i threw in the 190, needed it anyway, same with the BOV i thought maybe the stock crap one was leaking. But that wasn't it either.

The vacuum lines are all ok. The car only has 66,000 on it. I've gone over them though. I'm putting NGK spark plugs in it today, just because i wanted to. But what i meant though was upgrade mods for replacement parts. I'm not data logging as of yet because i haven't gotten that far. I changed all my IC piping and just replaced some of the vacuum lines with vacuum hose that came with my new intake.

The car doesn't smoke as far as i know. not black anyway. i'm going to put an S-AFC on it soon. Maybe i can clear it up with that. And if i can i'm gonna see if i can have a friend put a data logger on it to check it out. This still bothers me. The other thing i was thinking is its more like its breaking up. Its just odd, if i get the car to do it, it doesn't correct itself unless you let off the gas and push it again

I think I may be experiencing a similar situation with my '97. It's in the shop right now getting a brang new paint job and a little body work so I only had a little time to drive it when I picked it up stock. My turbo is spooling nicely and pulls well, but I'm taking my car into the shop to change all my belts, spark plugs, ignition wires, and fluids for a maintainence checkup and see if it still bogs a little after a quick shift. The POS stock gauge doesn't seem to show abnormalities in my boost after shift, although I need to go pick up an Autometer just be sure of course. I'll let you know if anything changes when I get my car back today.

you may want to replace the fuel filter. My friend had the same problem with his 92 vr4 he replaced the fuel filter and it was back to normal. You can get a new one for about $15.

When I shift my car toofast, I get some false knock and restards timing. Loose exhuast I think

I've noticed oin my dsmlink logs if I am knocking on the high end and throw a fast shift it keeps on knocking into the next gear.......I bet that is all you are experiencing. :)

I was experiencing same thing on my car. Now when you shift fast add throtle before droping the clutch out completlly and the car wont bog. I did that and the car doesnt bog anymore. Just my 02$.

I'm not venting. I have a new fuel filter for it, but haven't put it on yet. I am running NGK platinums because i got em free about 2 days ago, those are comin out in about 15 min. And I haven't had the chance to put a datalogger on yet, because i don't have one and my friend that does i don't see to often. i'm gonna change out some more stuff and run a boost leak test today. Thanx for all of your help

I hope the fuel filter fixes the problem I am no major mechanic. Let me know if the fuel fillter helped or not. I just fixed my new act 2600 problem so I cant wait to finish breaking it in. Hope everything works out for you.

OK changed the Fuel filter, put in new NGK Rs gapped at .30, Changed my lower IC pipe to a hard pipe, and eliminated about 2 feet of vacuum hose around my BOV and MBC. I haven't really felt a difference. The car seems more responsive, but still funny when I shift it to quick. I guess i just really need a data logger, What all do i need to do this, where can i get it cheap, and is there anything else i need to know about it. I'm an excellent mechanic, but some of this DSM stuff is new 2 me.

Man the scanmaster from fullthrottlespeed.com is awesome. You mount it on your ash and plug it to the diagnostic port and you watch everthing in real time. Knock, then watch timing, even has a G-tech feature for 0-60mph and 1/8th & 1/4 mile times and trap. Mark

do you have the stock clutch? if not, how new is the one you have in there? just thinking that you might be experiencing a slipping clutch and not realize it...
