I allready searched and read all I could find on this. My question is that if I remove the ISC and put a plate where it used to be, will this throw any codes in my ecu? I am almost done with my car and will be firing it up by the end of the week.

My idle is set at 950 with my chip because of the Fidanza flywheel being so light, so I do not really care if the idle changes for cold mornings, etc.

Also, anyone who has done this let me know how your car is running. :thumb:

scotty-

i don't think your car will run without that isc. my isc died a few weeks ago and I had to get it changed to get that car to even run. even with my dsmlink i could not get it to run.

Joe

ps i will be home this friday. should have the turbo, and brakes done by saturday afternoon. we will have to go run around town after I get done with my stuff............IF your car ever starts up :p

I know Taboo on Dsmtalk is running without one! My car is also running without one except the isc motor is physically there but the electrical connector is not plugged. My idle is set at 900 rpm and the car is running so better without that stupid isc! ;)

Mack--> when you make the plat you set the idle speed the computer can no longer adjust it. you set the idle with the throttle stop screw and the idle speed adjust screw.

to keep from throwing CEL for the ISC I just left it connected but zip tied it someplace that way the computer can still play with the ISC and not get upset.

to get it to run good after I got the plate made and installed I set the throttle stop screw so that I could see light around the plate, and turned the ISAS all the way down. then started it and messed with bot till I got it to idle about 900 rpms. then once you get that set you have to make sure the TPS is still right at idle 0% the AFC will not show this acurate because it will self adjust to 0 after a few moments, a logger is the easiest way to get that right. it is very important to get the TPS right at idle because that is how it goes into decel. mode.

Just using a plate would seem like it would leave a huge passage for bypass air.

I prefer to have a working ISC but if you going to eliminate it I'd either make a plug to seal the bypass or just leave the ISC in the TB and disconnect it. There isn't a code for a bad ISC on a 1G so you don't have to worry about a CEL.

Without a working ISC I don't think it matters what the chip is set for becasue the ECU no longer has anyway to try and adjust it.

I think you mis understand how I mean "make a plate" so I took some pics..

pic#1 seperate the bottom section of the throttle body there are 5 screws and it comes apart
pic #2 the "plate" would look like this piece of paper I cut out as a hole template. then you just find some bolt to put back in the place of the screws (from the factory these screws are VERY tight, to ease in making them tight again I used a bolt so that I could get a 1/4 ratchet on them to seal it good.
pic #3 this is my little project it is a 1g n't throttle body it is the same 60mm as the turbo 1g but has a lip to mount the piping straight to it.. I am going to take it to the machine shop and have it bored out and probably have them cut me a new plate.

this seals off any air unless it comes through the ISAS or the throttle plate.

Thanks for all the replys. I am going to test the ISC tomorrow and see if it is good or not. My idle surged before I took the car apart, but there were a lot of vac. leaks, etc. with the stock setup. Woody, give me a call big dog, I should have it up and running by Friday night.

Keep the info coming guys. :thumb:

Myblack98Gst thanks for the detailed response, gotta love pictures. :)
