i have a 1g non turbo with a bad head. i also have a 1g head off a turbo. are these the same?? i know the cams are differnt but what do i need to do to get this head on the non-turbo block. dont care about performance upgrades just need the car running again. please let me know. thanks

From What I been told the only difference are the cams and the turbo head has a threaded hole in the oil gallery to feed oil to the turbo (located on the back side of head).

both heads are IDENTICAL....both have the same threaded oil feed holes in the FRONT of the head for the turbo, the non turbo simply has a plug in the front where the oil feed was that you can switch over from head to head.......do a search next time this subject is brought up at least once a week on here...... :dsm:

yup, they're the same (except for the cams as you mentioned before)

although not relevant to the poster(you can use a 1g turbo head on a nt block btw), I thought non turbo heads have smaller intake ports?

There are 4g heads with small intake ports.
The casting number on the head with the small ports is: 46670864c-J.
In the big head identification book we use at work, it lists the head as being used on Mitsubishi eclipse, Eagle talon Non Turbo.
Before someone says something, i'm not mistaken with the 420A.
The internals of this head are a 4g63. The lifter galley is the same, the valves are the same, even the head bolt holes are the same.

you are comparing the 6 bolt (large ports) with the 7 bolt (small ports)....gen 1 seven bolts also have the large ports though, and then gen 2 all have the small port 7 bolts..... :dsm:
