Has anybody bought cam gears for your 4g63 engine and tuned them to get more hp?

Would this help my auto Talon TSi

I'm wondering the same question because I have this set up right now on my manual. If you are expecting to make 20hp on cam gears alone, never going to happen, but from what I understand with the help of a dyno you can make more power. I believe Defiant said up to 15 hp.

If anyone has put cam gears on stock cams and seen increase ### tell the adjustments you went with to give us an idea of where to start without a dyno.

Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere. To properly degree a cam with gears, you need to go to a dyno. If you're willing to do that, you're not going to gain that much horsepower anyway.

Yea what Blacknspooln said. Its pretty aggresivly tuned from the factory. Sure there is SOME power to be made there, but the hundreds youll spend in dyno time just simply isnt worth it.

Except that if you've got DSMLink, you can at least compare airflow, est hp, etc. I don't need a dyno to come up with better numbers from tuning. I plan on probably doing this too. I give myself a $200 a month allowance. This would cover Cam gears, but not, say... cams+springs+retainers. I think if he wants to do it, it's worth a shot. And he'll still have them for later when/if he changes cams. Besides, apart from increasing horsepower, he could move the powerband around a bit. That's pretty important to some of us.

I agree with Blknspooln...its definately not worth the money with your mod list. If your mod list is up to date, I'd get larger injectors and an AFPR with your extra money and you will gain FAR more with that than you will with cam gears.

If for some reason you DO have these fuel upgrades, I would take a look at FFWDConnection camshafts. They have exact copies of 264/272 and 272/272 cams for $350 for the pair. That will yield you way more in the long run than cam gears.
