Ok, what i got is a 16g turbo that i bought on ebay used. Everything was fine other than a lil shaft play until the compressor housing was removed from the turbo. Along the lip that the snap ring sits on (on the center section) to hold the compressor housing onto the turbo, a few pieces cracked off of it. the turbo could still be assembled w/o a problem and the broken pieces would be covered by the snap ring. My question is can i still use this turbo w/o any ill effects? I also have a 14b that the exhasust housing is cracked, I was wondering if it would be possible to transfer the 16g internals to the center section of the 14b w/o any major modifications to the center housing? Will the blades fit, bearings, etc.....? Please Help Im almost ready to install a turbo on my fresh rebuilt motor and now i have 2 turbo's that are probably no good. Thanx for any and all help w/ this subject. :talon: :thumb:

i believe that you can just swap the compressor wheel onto the 14b. my cousin had a small 16g and the shaft broke on it so he just swapped the compressor wheel onto the 14b and everything is good to go. I believe the 16g is a reverse thread as the 14b is a normal thread, but you might wanna call slow boy or another turbo shop to confirm.

The comp housings are bigger if its a big 16g. Also I do think it would be balanced if you just swaped out wheels. I would put it back together and presurize it to see if it leaks, with air ,oil, and coolant.

It would be out of balance.

As long as the big oring that sits around the compresor housing can still be seated properly, your fine!
