i'm stuck on 2 different typse of pistons to get. either the ross or je pistons. im only lookin to push 20 lbs. on a 20g with all the mods, and i'm not quite sure which one 2 get. yeah, the je costs more, but is the je worth the extra hundred to get them? or will the ross be fine for now?

all respnoses r greatly appreciated.

I personally prefer JE engines, thats what me and my friends have used when we have did rebuilds, they seem to be pretty tough, and when i rebuild a 6bolt turbo thats what i going to use.

I would recomend the new Wiesco pistons with the coating on the skirt. My second choise would be the Ross. The JE pistons are more of a race only piston they require alot of piston to wall clearance causing piston slap and not good on a street car. The weiscos offer the least. You can get the wiescos with rings and all for $400 from Jackson Auto Machine. Go with a 8.5:1 compression ratio or lower.

I think you mighta wanted to say "or higher" not lower.
The reason I said lower is because you can put more boost in the engine with out it knocking and pulling power away. 8.5:1 is more street gas friendly and is easyer to tune. All and all you can put more boost thew the motor on street 93 octane fuel without knocking badly 8.5s than the 9.0s.

Once you are running 30 psi and running out of turbo to use, you want to either up the turbo or up the compression so you can run less boost making the same amount of power running lower boost levels where the turbo can make it in its effieciency levels. 9.0:1 would also yield a little bit faster spoolup times for those worried with that. Either way, for the starter of this thread, get the Ross's in 8.5:1 if you want; running 20 psi on a 20g will be fine with them; you could also do it on 9:1 and also make good results.

I'd go with the Ross pistons...They are hella strong..But as for Rods...AMS claims that the Eagle rods are still kickin in there 700 + HP DSM...But the best rods on the market are Crower by far..Any input guys??

Yea I agree the crowers are the strongest rod out there and is more than any of us will ever need or can afford  . For a street car you cant beat reconditoned 1g rods with arp bolts and eather ross or weisco pistons.

My brother had a link on a Nissan board where they tested Weisco, Ross, Arias, and JE's. The JE's came last as there was alot of manufacturing variance from poston to piston while the others were all pretty good. JE is to pistons is like Sony to electronics; big name but average to below average quality.

Gotta link? Sounds interesting...
