Just got a Big16g w/7cm,,,Do I port it any...

I ported my old 14b housing & wastegate hole and could tell a differance.

Well now I just bought a Big 16G with a 7cm housing, should I even bother to do any port work on it besides the wastegate hole(I plan on porting it a little). Is it even worth the trouble on the housing with it allready being so big at 7cm.

Also I had used one of the thick ss housing/manifold gaskets after I ported my old 14b and when I pulled it to install the new 16g I noticed it had been leaking boost(black around the leak spots) , I spent $35 dollars on a gasket and it leaks, should I just use the factory gaskets, or should I use gasket sealent???? Thanks

Can anyone at least tell me this, If I port the 16g housing will I loose take off power
(more lag), and gain top end power. Right?????

I just want to know what the normal is???? And is it worth the trouble. I have a compressor and a die grinder/carbide bits.

Bob,

I would port the 16G specailly around the wastegate hole, it eliminates creep,
also condsider porting the exhaust manifold and the O2 housing.
After porting, I doubt you will notice lag on a 16G.

My $.02, porting the exhaust housing will give you more power of course, but i wouldn't do it. It's already huge and if you port it then you run the risk of it crackin'. Port the wastegate hole though, and o2 housing and manifold. good luck man

I don't think you will gain anything from porting the exhaust housing, but the wastegate I would definitly port.

I allready have a ported 2g exhaust manifold and O2 housing. I do plan on porting the waste gate hole as much as possible, but with the big 16g 7cm housing allready being so big , I was thinking it did not even need it.

This is my last mod(yea right), I have fuel/3"inch DP and Exhaust. After I get this turbo on, I should be happy for a while.
