The stock turbo in my 95....what boost should i run? i keep it at 11psi for everyday driving...got crazy and turned it UP...hit 20psi....what psi should i run the stock T25 @ , knowing that it will do 20psi?

...ive heard 15-16 is about the max...just wanted to make sure..

Ryan

LOL...yeah i have an auto-meter boost gauge...dont know how reliable it is...but it does slide back to 16-17... so i guess its safe to keep it at 16?

ohh and did you notice a difference when you got your new intercooler? what custom install IC would you guys suggest (3000gt?)

I normally kept my lo boost at 12 and high at 20 knowing it was just hot air and spiked.

Greddy large IC here too

LOL...mine doesnt "spike" per se...if i drop it into 2nd going 30mph it will hit 17..slide to 16...then at about 5500 rpms start creeping back down to 12psi....it seems much faster though :)

thanks for the intercooler info...i dont think i need it just yet...

I recommend running your turbo at 17 psi because that is the maximum psi without running too much hot air, this is the best psi to get the maximum performance out of the turbo currently instlaled. you might want ot add an exhaust if you plan to turn it over 18

Do you guys rewire the stock fuel pump? I going to do the mod this weekend but thinking how am I going to solder the wires? what tools you guys usually use to solder wires on your cars? I usually just crimp them, but I heard it's not safe to just crimp them.

No reason to wire the stock pump. You only need to rewire an bigger one. Well I take that back I suppose you could rewire the stock then the bigger wiring would already be in place. God this post was worhtless.

Later,

I think a 14b will hold 18 psi but not much more. Even though it's better than a T-25 it is still small and not That efficient.

Later,

I'm swapping a 14b onto my 95 talon this weekend. I know it will give me a power increase, and I think it is worth it seeing as how it's costing me $300 total and my stocker died. If your a broke college student like me it's a good upgrade.

Well, I just purchased a 16G for my Eagle because I literally cooked the exhaust seal and bearing out of my 2nd T-25 in 120k  How frustrating......What the hell was mitsu thinking when they assembled the 2G! Oh! I forgot..They weren't they just wanted money!!!

Anyway, I was running 15 to 17psi and over time the internals just got so hot and vibrated so much at such high rpms that they basically melted down...This is over time mind you. It doesn't happen like two or three times I mean the span of thousands of miles...

Think about it the T-25 is spinning hypotheically 100,000 rpms at 10psi and it's max rpm is 150,000 rpms at 14psi( the supposed max) we get them boosted to 16 or 17psi at 160,000 to 170,000 or whatever and the vibrations are now increased that much more as well as the heat. This is something Mitsu probably didn't account for so the end result is failure if sustained or repetitve boost levels are obtained. To me it makes sense. The turbo is just working too hard. Whereas a 14B or anything larger will spin slower and not work as hard.

95 Tsi ill with a blown turbo...

Actually the change to the T-25 by mitsu made the car more powerfull in stock form (more area under the curve). The T-25 spools faster and produces the stock boost just fine. They did a good job at picking a turbo that will spool as quickly as possibly and still hold the boost level they intended to use. They didn't think you wanted 6 more psi from the stock turbo....
