I have a G1 DSM with the cyclone motor. I have read some stuff about 10sec eclipse. I know that's it possible and all to have it and still be street legal. My real question is can I do it without any internal engine work. Like without porting the block or anything. Jus external work..such as Bigger turbo..pretty much modding the air shitz and the fuel stuff. any answers would help. thank you.

"Just lengthen the injector pulse another 1/2 millisecond, tune the NAWWWSSS timing, youll run 9s." Oh Boy. I love that movie. But it really has caused us a crap load of headaches. Between the cops being on our butts all the time, and every young person that does not know all that much asking(Can I make my street car run 10s and still get 30mpg, and still take it on trips. And , Do I need to build the engine, or can I just slap dis Big turbo on, that I just got for like $200 from my friend's, cousin's, brother in law? ) It really has warped a lot of minds. AND THEY ARE MAKING ANOTHER ONE? Dear God!

Throw out your copy of Fast and Ferious then consentrate on getting your car into the 12's

Do a search on this topic or just rummage through the last one week of posts and you'll find more answers/flames than you can deal with. Short answer...yes, but it will take years and more knowledge than...well you get the point.

We may have to flame you for you rotary knowledge, or lack there of. What type of port is this!!? ;)

Actually rotaries are very very interesting, but no one around here has one, at least not that I have access to. I know the basics, but I don't have any hands on experience w/ them.

Hey, I thought this thread was going to be about 10 sec street cars...not rotary porting.

It was but I don't know where you intend to get with that discussion. I had a 13b in a first generation RX7. Turned out the motor was blown when I got it. (Long story). So I cracked the engine open and the housings were torn up from two apex seals that were no good. I ended up selling it with the parts. It's a longer story than that but it's something that I don't like to reflect on!! :(

I raced a Rotary "race car" at this years Summit Sport Compact Race on Saturday before the shootout. It was an old car, looked kinda like a Datsun 510, but a mazda of course. I didn't get a close look at the car, but they said it had an RX7 motor in it. We were in the staging lanes, getting ready to race, so I didn't have much time for a full inspection.

He was running bottom 11's. I lost.

Yeah, actually, now that you mention it, I belive someone said it was an old corolla, w/ a rotary in it. I know thats what it was, because I remember thinking it unusual to have a Toyota w/ mazda rotary power. Maybe it's not unusual, I just hadn't seen the hybrid before. We were racing in the modified class that allows such hybrids/tranny swaps etc... The winner of the class was Eric Plebani driving Dave B.'s former 1G RWD. Leon Reitman (GRNDSM) also competed in the same class.

Yeah that's a popular rotary engine swap, into an old corolla or a starlet which is my personal favorite. One thing about both of those cars with that swap, some of them do some of the coolest wheelies. They put on quite a show between that and the flames spittin out the tailpipes. I love em.

Yeah, he stood it up at the line! I think he was sleeping at the line when I raced him because I tree'd him BAD. I was ahead at the 330 ft mark, almost even at 1/2 track, but he flew past me after that. I do know he was shifting gears, it wasn't a powerglide tranny.

Okay guys you are off subject but anyways my fault on the vocab deal. I meant boarding out the block. and no i dont have to concentrate about running 12's cause I'm already running high 12's and low 13 e.ts...and also it's a question.

I have a question, why would you want a street legal car even if it was capable of 10 second runs? Seems like unless you are going to use it for money street races then it's just not worth it. Even still you will be breaking parts.
