I installed a 3" ghetto exhaust this last weekend, thanks sooo much to KPT4321! He welded all new hangars on the exhaust to make it sit right, and generally did most of the work
(I'm a noob, and mechanically declined).
Anyway, I get some serious boost creep now, despite our efforts at porting the turbine / O2 housings. We took some good chunks of metal out of there, and I don't know if there's very much more that could be removed (It's a plain-jane 16G housing, and stock O2 housing).
I tried even hard-wiring the wastegate flapper fully open with safety wire, to see if it would stop somewhere. I managed 15+ pounds of boost and it was still going up pretty good, and started knocking, so shut 'er down.
My question to everybody is, do you think I should try and fix the boost creep by getting a different O2 housing, and/or porting the wastegate area more (or what other methods do you know of to fix?). Or should I just build up the rest of my car to deal with whatever boost it's going to end up with (I'm going to continue adding parts to the car anyway, so eventually I'll be running more pressure all the time).
I suppose my secondary question to this is then: does boost creep stop eventually? Like... if the wastegate is fully open will the boost eventually settle somewhere? Or if it creeps, does it creep forever? IE do I need to do _something_ about the creep?
Thanks, I think this is the appropriate forum for this also, but if not please move.
Thanks in advance, and feel free to contribute any points that I might've forgotten about that also need to be addressed.
