Like the title says. I'm going to put a msd dis-2 with tach adapter on my 2g Talon and want to see your install. I don't know where I would put this msd box, not much room under the hood. I'd rather mount it inside. Anyways let's see some pics or shoot me some ideas that will work.

Thanks,

Gil

Judging by your list of mods, you don't really need a dis2.

But if you want to get one, here is a pic of an easy way to install it. Put the right connectors on the MSD harness, and it plugs directly into the coil packs.

I ran into this very problem myself. The space right infront of the battery is just enough room for it and it points the dip switches up for easy changing. Make sure you battery wires dont touch it. I made that little bracket out of aluminum and painted it black. It screws to the DIS2 and just goes under my strut tower brace to hold it down. You can see my tach adapter above the throttle cable box on the fire wall.

I have one already. I know I have an automatic and i'm not going to get the full benefit from the dis-2 but I will have more spark and thats what I want. The picture of the harness that you have here is that just a dis-2 harness with coil plugs attached to it?

Thanks,

Gil

Yep, it's the standard DIS-2 harness, with the right plugs to make it plug into the coils. There are a few shops that sell these plugs. RRE and DSS both carry them. It basically saves you the trouble of cutting up your stock harness, and having to solder all this stuff under the hood.

What I was pointing out about not needing it, is that the extra spark energy isn't needed at the levels of mod you have. The stock ignition really isn't bad. When you start getting misfires from too much boost pressure, then you will need something. I saw some misfiring around 26 PSI, but below that, the stock ignition has run fine.

Thanks for the info. I might just have to go that route on the harness. Who wants to cut up their harness when you can buy a plug n play one. Well I got this msd brand new for a real good deal so I am going to use it. I have a bunch of parts that I have not put on my car yet like a frank 5 and some other parts. I am trying to get all the supporting mods before I put it all on.

Is there any more people out there that have pics of their msd installs?

:coy: So what if this an old thread, I still would like to know where these harnesses can be obtained from. I resurrected the dinosaurs, I gotta know. DSS doesnt carry them any more.

Nobody knows where I can get one of these neat, nifty devices? I'd really like one because I don't wanna splice (hack) into my stock wiring harness anymore. I already did some repairs to it. This is the easiest way to install one.

I got mine through DSS and it took over a month to get it. All it is, is the factory plugs so if they don't sell it anymore you might be able to get it from the junk yard from a mitsubishi harness. That's if the junk yard will allow you to cut the engine harness.

just wondering i see that harness wire up top for a 2g. can it be done on a 1g? i tried installin it for my 1g with cutting and using male and female connectors. for some reason it didnt work. i asked MSD for a install picture and they showed me that i had to tap a wire in the power resistor box. is this true? i have a 90 eclipse AWD TURBO.

Dont feel bad, I fried an ECU trying to install mine. I had something hooked up wrong and mis-read a wiring diagram. I ended up sending 500v back into the ECU. The dash lights were all saying...."TIME SQUARE CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHT"
