Okay, I pulled the motor out of a parts car I purchased today and it has an auto trans. I unbolted the bell housing and removed all the flex plate bolts. I then proceeded to pull it apart. It came apart easily but now the converter is stuck to the engine. It spins freely while the flex plate stays still. I yanked on it and it moves up and down about 1/4 inch. Is there something I'm missing or what?

If all the flex plate bolts are out than the pilot on the torque converter is just seized in the alignment bushing on the crank. Take a big pry bar and pry it back and forth until it comes off.
