yup that sums it up. the drivers side axle is off at the boot because the ####ing thing wont come out of the tranny, so ive been jacking and loweing the tranny and engine. compressed and decompressed a bazillion times. currently the tranny is compressed back in and i jus got home from the shop at 3 in the morning. thanks to the piece of axle being stuck in the tranny it wont drop since it hits the frame, any tool used to yank that piece out? also bellhousing took a nice crack down the side, anyway am i damaging the block by this engine keep being compressed and decompressed then hanging on to the block? im sure this crank aint happy with all the moving around

Have you removed all torque converter bolts? Be sure you have all the bolts out on the tranny as well....there is one that is really hard to get to right under the starter that threads into the bell house from the block. You may have damaged your front pump as well if you have been twisting and compressing the transmission back and forth on the block. To get the stubborn axle out, just use a large flat head screwdriver and a hammer. Place the screwdriver between the transmission and the axle and give it a few good whacks. It will take some persuasion, but it will come out. If the screwdriver tip hits the axle center, then move the screwdriver over a bit to make it miss it but still help wedge it out.

too late. it wouldnt come out because of the stuck axle, so i pulled the engine out and let the tranny fall, i shoulda pulled the tranny and engine out together as one piece, what a waste of time. even with the tranny out, we tried takign the piece of axle out and it doesnt come out, and the bellhousing had a crack in it before i dropped it so the thing is junk now. the only reason i was removing this was for the stupid seal between the torque converter and the tranny, it was leaking from the bellhousing always. anyways tranny is out and destroyed
