ok my buddy just got a 1g NT which btw is auto, yeah the car sucks, but thats besides the point LOL. Anyways, the car wont go to redline unless he manualls shifts. It always wants to shift at like 5000-5200, even with the "power" button on LOL. Any ideas what to check? thanks in advance guys

stock transmission...why wouldn't it shift at 5k.. I don't understand why you want to shift at 7k in an auto nt anyways.. Going to start slipping real quick

Yea for sure, if you drive around in a '98 Buick like my grandma. It’s a sports car, why wouldn’t he??

If the said car is a 4g nt car, I’m pretty sure the limit is 7 grand. I’m not saying the engine limit, just the stock transmission that’s designed to go to 7k along with the engine.

I would check into the tps. If its not reading 100% I think the transmission won’t shift at full line pressure, or at redline. Maybe, maybe not.

Automatics are always the best to work on BTW. Have fun!
