I have a 91 talon awd automatic. The transmission shifts normaly up to overdrive, then it acts like its in neutral the engine just winds up. Also if you step on the accelator to make it downshift into 2nd it does the same thing.

If you start off from a dead stop and accelerate hard it wont shift out at all. I just got this car so I have no idea what has happened to it. The transmission fluid has been changed, it looks too clean not to have been. I checked the TCU codes and it was normal.

Does anyone know what is happening and what it will take to fix it? I do all the work on my vehicles. Any help will be appreciated!

You might have LIMP MODE, :barf: you are probably stuck on 2nd or 3rd gear.
Even though the TCU has no error codes to report, the TCU might still be bad, blown, fried, etc. Check the TCU for leaky capacitors.

Also check all your fuses, any shorts?
