does any one know if old tranny fluid would cause my tranny to go in to limp mode, cause in the morning the tranny is cold, fluid is cold it works, when the car warms up the tranny goes in to limp.... if i flush the fluid do you think it might help, i get a trouble code " p0700: Tranny Control System Malfunction. " not very discriptive code.
thanks for any help :dsm:

Old transmission fluid will not set a cold though it should be changed if it's old. Most of the time it is a transmission speed sensor that has failed on you.

There should be a cheaper way to get these codes retrieved. Ask them how much you will be charged just for them to retrieve the fault codes in the trans controller. There's normally a 1 hour diagnostic charge at our dealership for code retrieval and related diagnostics. Are you sure this "$500" estimate is ONLY code retrieval or are they talking about pulling the transmission apart to find out what's wrong? My guess is it's the latter.

no no... the 5 hundred is not for pulling the codes, the already pulled the codes, the problem is that it only gave one code P0700 : Tanny Control System Malfunction, thats it, and the dont know what to make of that code, it could be tons of things cause its not discriptive enough, so they were gonna go through the wiring and what not to SEE if they could find any reasons, the couldnt guarentee me a soulution or awnser to my problem even afgter the 500$

p0700 only shows up in the powertrain control module to indicate that the transmission control module has fault codes. This dealership should know this and should have read the fault codes in the TCM. You should go back and tell them to stop screwing you around and pull the rest of the codes from the correct controller. Better yet... go to a different dealership because any intelligent technician knows that P0700 simply means... look in the trans controller for more codes.

alright sounsd good, i will go back to the dealer and tell them to pull codes from the tranny control module. thanks doug
