Ok, i know this is not a huge deal yet,
I have a 99 GST SPyder that i just bought, well it drove fine at the dealership but ive noticed in the last weeks, after driving for a little while and the tranny gets warmed up it clunks when i let off the gas, i can feel it in the steering wheel and hear it. It happens in most gears, mostly when im in traffic at low speeds. It starts off fine and seems like it has a problem finding the right gear when i let off the gas and go again at speeds like 20-40mph.

Its only when i let off the gas and then go again. It almost sounds like its dropping into the gear real hard and making a noise.

I'm scared its gonna get worse!

thanks! That does make sense.
I think im gonna take it to the dealer next week, see whats up..

yo

I have same problem.

my front motor mount is bad.

gonna get it replaced soon.

thanks :)

well I went to autozone and asked this one guy and he gave me a number to a mechanic who does side work. but the guy at autozone said it costs around 63-100 bucks

not sure if same for gst. I have a nt.

I just havent had time to do it but I am gona do it today or sometime this week b/c I thought it was normal clunk when gear shifts but since u have it too I am paranoid.

Yea, Its wierd it feels fine when its upshifting after a normal acceleration, but when i tap the brakes or go on and off the gas it clunks in the steering wheel, and its really not noticable unless you are driving it. It really feels like the tranny, but im glad it may be the MM, alot cheaper!! You can buy aftermarket polyuerthane MM for like $50. Not sure what that does though.

yeah you can find one for $20 if you look hard enough. but yeah exactly same thing. you ever drive a stickshift before? it feels like you are shifting and taking the foot of the clutch real fast and you know how it shakes?

I thought it was the tranny too but its the mm :D.

I called a mechanic friend and he asked me which MM it is? Front, transmission mount?
do you know which one?

I get the same thing. but especially when using overdrive. If I keep OD off to reduce downshifting it happens far less.

Yeah, I noticed it about 10 days after driving it hard...mostly on a downshift from 2nd to 1st it makes a clunk sound in the transmission and it can be felt a little. I suspect that maybe another one of the motor mounts is bad or going bad. I'm just going to change them out with poly's in July when I get back to florida.

YEP!!! I dont use Overdrice much in traffic either cuz of that damn annoyance!!

I'll let you know what the dealer says too!

Thanks guys!
