Upgrading a 1g interior lighting to LED using SharpHID kit.
Ive often been tired of the rather dim lighting of my 1g. Even the factory didnt want us to see anything inside the car with the under dash bulbs covered in a yellow rubber and the dome light tinted. I got in touch with John from SharpHID to talk about getting some LEDs. Great guy to deal with. He went above and beyond with helping me get a kit together. So in a short time (as these are coming from overseas) I got a nice little care package. Each set of bulbs came in a static resistant bag and labeled. One important note, the leds will only work one way. So when you plug them in and it does not light, remove it, turn 180 and try again.
Heres what you get,
2- 194 5x5050 white
2- 31mm Festoon 2x5050 white
3- 31mm Festoon 4x5050 white
Now Im going to show how easy it can be to update your lights. There will be some slight tweeking to do to the tabs as these leds are slightly larger then the stock bulbs. All you need is a small screw driver, needle nose and possibly a phillips screwdriver. Also you may want to disconnect your battery. I do not want to be responsible for getting anyone shocked or damaging your vehicle.
Dome light; Youll need to pull the cover off your light, there are tabs holding the cover in the front and rear.
I opted to remove my dome light assembly. Remove these 2 screws and pull the assembly down. (May be best to pull from the windshield side down and towards you slightly.)
Now heres the thing. There are 2 tabs, one being thicker and the other thinner. Youll see your LED cant quiet fit. I pushed the thick tab towards the outside slightly. Then using needle nose I straightened the slight bend in the thinner tab. When you push the led in with out doing so, the tab will touch the housing.
Also near the map lights, once the bulbs were in, I bent the thin tab towards the bulb and just for extra safety put a piece of tape behind, covering the metal.
Now you have all of your lights in and youre ready to go see if you have all the lights in correctly. If you do not take this out of the car, I suggest doing them 1 by 1 so you can test if they are in correctly.
(2 31mm festoon 2x5050s for the map lights. 2 31mm festoon 4x5050s for your dome lights)
Now to the trunk. Small screwdriver in the corner and pop the lens off.
This light is actually smaller then the dome lights. its a 29mm stock so were going to do a bit more tweeking. Just like the dome, this tab youre going to want to push slightly to the left.
Take your needle nose and straight the kink out in this tab.
Insert the light 31mm Festoon 4x5050 and prepare to be blinded. No seriously, its bright.
Lastly your foot well lights. These are 194 wedge bulbs stock, that will be replaced by 194 5x5050 leds.

(Please note, there were NO outside lights on or additional lights on during any before and after shots. Ive turned my flash off for the last pictures and waited for night time with no moon)
Hope you enjoyed. Thanks to John at SharpHID for his help and putting a great kit together. Please hit him up on this site or his own, HID Xenon conversion lighting kits.
