HOW TO: Make your own sprung dipstick
Ever get tired of the dipstick popping out under boost? I did. It's also pretty dangerous since it can cause a fire, too. So here are the parts you'll need, which you can get at a hardware store:
(1) S hook
(1) Spring 2in
(1) 1/4 - 3/4 Worm Clamp or one size smaller if you prefer.
So look at the attatched picture and you'll see how to put them together. I ran the bottom of my spring through the clamp and the S hook through the top of the spring and pinched the S into a little C to keep it tight on there.
Once you've got it all ready to go, slide the clamp w/ spring and attach hook to oil dipstick. I found it was easier to remove the dipstick to slide it over and hook the other S end on there. Either way you do it, you'll be able to pull the clamp down just enough to feel the spring have some pressure on it. Clamp it down. Now you saved yourself $55.00 and can adjust the spring pressure on it, too. No more oil all over the valve cover :hellyeah:
