Tools required:
screwdriver
8mm socket and 8mm/14mm/19mm wrenches
3/8 double open ended fitting
two small hose clamps
razor
pliers
lift / big jack
walbro fuel pump with install kit if not new ( comes with it new)
directions:
DISCONNECT BATTERY TERMINALS
take off back seat
release fuel pressure via opening gas cap or the fuel pressure relief plug also located underneath the back seat.
uncover the cap for the fuel pump assembly with your screwdriver.
take off the return line hose with your pliers
use the 14mm and 19 mm to break loose the connection between the rubber hose and the FP assembly. IF its to hard to break loose use PB blaster remember DO NOT USE FIRE to heat up the metal near gasoline. 2g fuel pump assemblies do not rust like 1g ( you should not have a big problem breaking it loose, just remember twist the 19mm wrench not the 14mm)
disconnect the white plug
use 8mm wrench to slowly take off the nut on the FP assembly underneath the fuel line.
go ahead and take of the rest of the nuts with your 8mm socket.
here comes the tricky part the fuel pump assembly wont come out just by breaking both the top and the bottom fittings the rubber hose twists and bundles up making it impossible for the FP assembly to come out easily.
at this point jack up the car or if you are lucky put it up on the lift.
this is the easiest way to do it. loosen both the top and the bottom fittings with 19mm and 14mm wrenches . with a razor from the bottom of the car cut the rubber hose in half. unscrew both the bottom and top of the hose ( at this point they come out easy). at auto zone/ pep boys / lappens etc. they sell a 3/8 double open ended barb fitting. ( used to repair compressor hoses). slide one side of the fitting into the rubber hose tightly first ( I preffer the bottom side) remember to tighten with small hose clamps, connect to the bottom of the car. now screw in the top from inside the car. Change out fuel pump its common since you would need to use like 2-3 old pieces from the top of the actual pump. Finally go underneath the car again, connect the top of the rubber hose to the bottom rubber hose via the fiitting. remember to tighten down with small hose clamps. Put back the FP assembly ( make sure the rubber gasket is aligned up well). Also make sure to put back on the return fuel line hose and also plug in the white connector. connect battery.Turn on the car to check for gas leaks ( tighten if needed). walla your done.I have been driving around for about 2 weeks like this and I have had no leaks. This way you dont have to cut up your car.
