I just got my 97 GSX out from the bodyshop and I feel that all those years of neglect and abuse to my ride have come to an end. My baby looks brand new with the new coat of paint, new rug shell, and those new mats, but unfortunately something just isn't complete. You guessed it, that God awfull door trim. I was wondering if anyone new how to or had a link which explained how to replace those weathered down rubber pieces (top & bottom). Oh yeah and how about the rubber trim around the little back windows, can those be replaced?

I know where to buy them, I just need to know how to replace them.

I got my car repainted this summer and had to remove the trim to paint. I didn't get any replacement trim so that is on my list for next summer. The trim can be tricky. First of all the plastic trim on the rear quarters is affixed to the glass so no go unless you want to replace the glass. I suggest getting some viynl to cover it. As far as the door trim it can be tricky. The lower sash on the inside just pops out. The outer lower sash is held on by two screws at either ends of the door. the front one is on the inside of the door in front of the side mirror and the other is on the back end. If I remember right you have to lower the window. Take off the inner sash and then take out the weatherstrippint that is for the top of the window. on each end of the weather stripping there is a plug that is actually under the trim. If you are replacing it just rip the end pieces apart. Inside the weather stripping is a aluminum U shapped frame. Now the tricky part, you have to force the whole weatherstipping forward and off the alluminum frame. Then remove the frame. This is held on with I think like 8 screws. When you put the new weatherstripping on you have to slide it towards the back of the car to get it on the frame. I sugest you do this with some soapy water and make sure it is warm out. If you go to mitsubishi parts .com you can look up the parts and see a diagram of what is involved. Good luck. I am hopeing to make a tech article on this next spring.

I really appreciate your help. I figured that the back ones were stuck on the glass, and found some mitsu oem dealer that sells them for about 90 bucks each. Along with the other moldings I'll be looking at about 350 bucks to replace everything so I'll wait a bit before I dive into that project.
