I have a 1G valve cover off a DOHC N/T and I want it on my 2G turbo. I am 99% sure this will work? yes or no?

Thanks in advance....

im not really sure if it would work, but i do knw that the 1g NT are 4g63 so i guess theres a good chance it would work but i dont so i wont say yes or no

wasnt there a 1.8L N/T 1g? was that 4g63, or sumthing else?
that head wouldnt be good on a 2g turbo would it?would it even work?

Hello

1G non turbo came equipped with a 1.8L sohc (8 valve) cam engine. It was not the 4G63 motors, they are 2.0l dohc (16 valve) with a turbo. I don't know about the engine types on a 2G if they used the same engines.

everyone is saying sumthing different. THis is what i know for fact now.
there is a 1.8L 1g and a 2.0L 4g63 1g, both N/T
and theres a 2.0L 1g turbo 4g63.
is the head from the turbo and nonturbo 1stgen 4g63 the same or different????i would like to know this for myself
if they are different would speedaddicts want he N/T one on his turbo?or would it not work? id like to know this stuff to cause i was wanting to do sumthing like that

wow the amount of incorrect information in this thread is laughable.

1gs came with:

1.8 4g37
2.0 4g63n/a
2.0 4g63t

2gs came with

420a (n/a)
4g63t
4g64 (spyder)

the valve cover off of your 1g n/a will fit the following:

1g 4g63n/a
1g 4g63t
2g 4g63t
2g 4g64

cliffnotes are yes, it will fit.

is the head from the turbo and nonturbo 1stgen 4g63 the same or different????i would like to know this for myself

they are different strength-wise, but parts are interchangable.

well from this forum and other DSM forums....i have decided it will fit.
there is a little hole on the 1G cover though that is not on the 2g cover....on front right side near cam gear cover...

should it be filled? that is the new question...i cant tell if it goes all the way thru...

the 2g also had a 4g63 nt too..but thats besides the point....

I've never seen a 1g 2.0L N/T cover ... I have a 2g 4g63t .... do they look different or is he just asking because his 2g one is cracked and he can get a 1g n/t for cheap or something?? Thanks.

I stole a 1G valve cover from a junkyard so I could paint it without having downtime on my car. The 1G valve cover off a n/t says mitsubishi closest to the intake manifold side and the 2g turbo cover says 16 valve. I'll post before/after pics in the gallery with a link when im done. should look much cleaner...

And also, under closer observation, I have the same hole that I thought you were talking about on my 2g Valve Cover. It's right beside a screw that holds the valve cover on near the corner where the timing belt is close to the power steering pump???

interesting. i have never seen a 4g63n/a in a 2g. *shrugs* is that a strictly germany thing?

420a was used here in the states and everywhere else i thought.

does this mean i dont have to go to my garage today?(Actually, its a Barn thats been converted into a Garage LOL)and make a proof photo of my engine??

cause its Cold outside...and wet too

but ill make some pics eventually and put it in my gallerey.

oh and here another Fact...the 97/99 Facelift front only came on the 99 modells in germany..afterthat they were discointinued

there were 4000 2gs made in total for the Euro market

and...all of the 1gs had the Pop ups..the 92 to 94 modells had smaller popups to aid the cars Aerodynamics(to reduce drag..)

oh,and there was a special 1g modell called ..2000gt with different front and sideskirts..

oh and the TARGA MODELL..but yall know bout that too...and they leak:D but nice !
