Bellingham,
Okay I just want some opinions.............Right now for my subs I have a MTX 4250D mono sub amp pushing 350 clean watts at 2 ohms to a 12" DVC Audiobahn sub in a Qlogic sealed box. Now I have the option to get to Kicker 12's in a Obcon (bandpass box) for cheap. Now wouldn't the 2 Kickers sound better then the 1 Audiobahn DVC (the 2 Kickers would be getting 175 watts each and the dvc is getting 350 watts) Please anyone give me their opinions...........

1 DVC 12" sub or 2 SVC 12" subs?

are the kickers comp's or vr comps? I would say that the two are going to be better than the one. You may have less excursion per speaker, but the two will make up for it. I would ditch the bandpass!!! Go ported. Just make sure that the port is tuned correctly. I have two kicker vr's in a ported box, and it doess really well for what it is.

Yeah I passed on the 12's..............The Kickers were too Old School and I agree with the bandpass boxes they are to old school also, Anyways I always have done ported before but with this DVC Audiobahn and the Qlogic box I tried it ported and sealed ( its got the plug ) and the sealed hits hella hard and sounds alot more responsive and clean.........now I just need to get my power cap (will be delivered on tuesday) and hopefully my headlights will stop dimming.

Thanks for the info,

Later

There's nothing wrong with old school stuff! Most of the old stuff is hella better than new. You have a ported q-logic box? What is it tuned to? Most ported boxes have nore output than sealed boxes. The cap will help a little, but it puts more strain on the system than it helps. Unless you have a huge one or several in parallel.

See I don't know much about tuning the ported boxes......Yeah I know it would be louder if it were ported but most of my expierences with ported have not been as clean of sound as with it being sealed now.......Also what do you mean that a cap would put more strain on it unless if it is big or a few ran in parellel?

The caps discharge to quickly to store any power. Capacitors are designed to send power quickly in time of need. It may help a little, but because it discharges so quickly they have be charged back up, thus same or more current needed. with several caps the storage becomes great enough to really store enough to become useful.

That Audiobahn needs more power to really shine. I've got a 15 and I give it 600w RMS...still a little underpowered in my eyes. It sounds pretty strong though. Audiobahn subs need alot of power and alot of air space to really put out their full potential.

Yeah I got the Qlogic box which I think is giving it enough airspace but I would like more power when I have more money. It's funny though my roommate (with a prelude) has 2 12's in a Bandpass and when he rode in my car he actually said that its alot louder then his 2 12's (w/ 2 amps) I am happy with the Bass now I need to upgrade my mids and I need to do something with the rattleing. Do you guys now what I could do with that? My windows and everything rattles, their is hardly any rattleing on the outside its just all on the inside.....

I have tried the Visonik line of car audio, AND WAS I IMPRESSED! Not do they make all sorts of series subs, amps, component speakers....etc, the prices are just crazy cheap!

EXAMPLE: 1 15 inch Visonik, Chrome Basket, DVC, like 100??? oz double stacked magnet, hatch sealed box, $$130.00 shipped

Got that 4 a friend who had me install it into his Dodge Neon! Ran a Chrome 1000 watt Audiobahn amp to the 1 sub, gain ALL THE WAY UP, and the sub only flexed about half what it could! It was so loud it made the cd player skip!

Same guy, same car, same amp! Gets 3 12inch JL audio subs in a power wedge! Puts em in, and doesnt come close to the 1 VISONIK 15in! Not to knock JL, but these babies are bad ass! My Laser is getting all Visonik! Check em out on the web: www.visonikcaraudio.com

and also go to www.ebay.com and type in VISONIK in the search box and see how you can get 2 12's for 80 bucks!!!!!!!

Visonik holds 2 world records!!:) AND NO I DO NOT WORK FOR THEM AS A SALESMAN!LOLOLOLOL JUST A HAPPY CAMPER!!!!
