Bellingham,
What does anyone think of the silverstar headlights? Are they good?

B/c I am either going to get those or the Angel eye Halo's for my 1g.

Damn.............I was reading through all the old threads here and I did'nt see anything re Silverstar then right after I posted this I saw that thread. Well anyways I should have posted there.............my bad.

Sorry

I paid $125 CND a pair for PIAA and one blew so I went into Canadian Tire and purchesd one Slvania Silver Star $25 CND and I love them. If you do alot of night driving with no street lights you will see a huge improvment. How much do they cost in the USA?:thumb:

by far the best bulbs available for the asking price.

Yeah here at Shucks & WalMart it's about $40 a pair for the H4666 (90-91 flip up HL's.

Well I think I will get these instead of the angel eye halo ones because the more I see them the more I don't think I like them.

Thanks to everyone for all your input.

interesting reading, but at night in the rain i've never had headlights that lit up the road worth a shit no matter what they were. these at least work really good on dark back roads. the whiter light at least helps make things stand out a little better. but the number one thing i did to help lighting was just re-doing the headlight lenses. that alone made a huge difference and then i added a serious set of foglights that also help alot in the lighting department.

thats what i did, one in and went to see the diff, noticable during day, but atnight the difference was pretty big, not to mention they actually illuminate the road noticable better

Ok... so now you've got me confused.

Given Stern's opinions on the Silverstar bulbs, those two statements seem to be contradictory.

I still think the Silver Stars are the best consumer bulb you can get, primarily because their "blue" is very subtle. Mr. Stern's not agreeing with that doesn't take away from the invaluable information and sensible opinons I've read on his site. Opinions often disagree.

Thats why they call them silver star. My PIAA have a blue tip the Slvianias have a silver tip also don't they have a higher wattage? 55w I think. Right side PIAA left side Slviania no differance except price.

I have the Silver Stars on my Talon. And I have been through alot of bulbs in my life and these happen to be the very best ones I have owned. They are the best bulb on the market. They are not the solid blue rice crap you see alot. I just bought the Sealed Beam's for my friends Stealth for Christmas. I seen the sealed beams on my friends notchback mustang and they are nice as hell. I would recomend them to anyone. I might even get them for my moms 03 Ranger.

Maybe you guys can clear this up for me. Can I get Sylvania Silverstars and swap them directly into my 91 Laser? I thought because of the pop-ups I had to get some 100.00 conversion kit from machv. Is this true? Or can I just go out and get some of these and swap them in to my car in 5 minutes like everything else? I've done extensive searching and I still can't find a definative answer. Thanks!

oh here's some pics of mine when i first got them. (before i polished the lenses on my lights)

stock on the left, silverstars on the right.

here's the same scenario with my foglights turned on (pilot 55 watt)

and for those wondering, the lights are pointing up that high because the car was on jackstands waiting on another transmission at the time.

Yes you can buy sealed beam Silverstar's they are the same # as your stock ones (H4666) they have them at Shucks over here for like $19.95 - $24.95 each. All you have to do is unscrew the black plastic trim pieces around your headlight then their is like 4 screws holding the sealed beam in place. Any other questions feel free to ask me.......
