Algonquin,
is it possible to put a remote starter on a manual trans car. where is a cheap place to get one?

also how hard are they to install?? if i can install a stereo can i do this?

ok i recently bought a crimestopper CS-2011RS it comes with remote start,it cost 80$ online, and i thought it wouldnt be that tough to install myself...
Well turns out when it came its basically just a box with hundreds of wires, i felt overwhelmed so i paid someone i know 100$ under the table to do it on my car. Took him about 2 hours. Also, i CAN install a car stereo and subs.

Probably. You need to take your time at it, and deal with the factory alarm issues. Also, you'll need to devise some method of making sure it's in neutral, or else be sure to _never_ park in gear.

Several companies including Crimestopper and Compustar make units for manual transmission vehicles, usually they work sort of like a turbo timer, your car stays running when you remove the ignition key and shuts off after you open and shut the door(exit the vehicle). This forces you to leave the car in neutral with the e-brake on.A company called Astroflex(best remote starts around) makes a pretty ellaborate one with infrared alignment sensors that compensate themselves for temperature.A lot of install shops won't install them on manual trans vehicles though, due to legal liability issues.Installation on our vehicles is easy compared to most vehicles, but you can do a lot of damage if you screw up.

Not to latch on to your thread....

I have a Viper alarm proffesionally installed that has remote start capability. They did not hook this part up due to the legal issues. Would it be hard for me to go in and hook up this remote start function? Thanks in advance.
