I would just pay to have a body shop do that for you, it couldnt be anymore than 100$? Plus they would use the factory minden silver pearl paint

Yea I have a few scrapes on my car, no paint can really go with it, I have silver too, I'm gonna try to get it painted at an auto shop for around 50 bucks, since the scrapes are so small

Yes, there are 2 bolts that hold the doorhandle on. One is on the side, which is on the very end of the door. You can only get to this bolt if you open the door, the other is in the door itself. Buy a Chiltons manual and read through it.

So my door handle fell off....
Yeah.... my driver's side door handle fell off! I just got done having dinner with my girl. I walked up to my car, went to open the door...aaaaand the handle breaks off and hits the ground. I'm thinking to myself was that for? A clean break, nobody tried to break into the car or anything.
I didn't know where else to post this, so if it need be moved I apologize. Anyhoo... anybody have and spare, black, driver side door handles laying around?........ didn't think so.
Has anyone had to replace their door handle before? If so, where's the best place to find one? And was it a difficult task?

Yah from what I have read it is a pretty common thing on 2g's. I had a 96 Eagle Talon and it happend to me, its a pain in the ass . I got one off eBay for pretty cheap but otherwise I would say get one from a Mitsu dealer. As for installation its not too difficult its just kind of tedious because you have to get the rods all connected to the handle correctly through little tiny holes in the door panel.

I'm having no luck finding one anywhere. It will probably cost an arm and a testicle to get it from Mitsu...
Thanks for the reply

That happened to me. Please live out my fantasy and douse your car in gasoline, and light it up. I'll pay you.

Yo I had it happen too, that was a PITA. Then I had to deal with my alarm screwing up and not letting my doors unlock. I had to use the hatch, luckily it was in front of my girlfriends house at night so only she saw me. I'm thinking about shaving them if it happens again.

Err... I think 1g and 2g equaly share the broken door handle problem. Happended to my 1g.
Everytime my buddies are riding with me, when they reach for the handle and my doors are not locked yet, I melt in horror. *shudders*
Went to junk yard and picked up same color handle for $7. 1g door handle situation > 2g door handle situation.

Door Handles Help! [Merged 11-7] broke broken eBay replacement repair handle outside
I got my 2G repainted this summer and did all the body work myself. Before I got the car painted the passanger door handle was having issues. I would lift up on it and the door wouldn't open unles you pushed in on the door itself between the handle and the window sill. I had removed both handles to paint and after installing the passanger handle I didn't have a problem anymore. But the drivers side started acting up. I then got a replacement gasket for both handles and reinstalled them. No both doors are fubared. The door opens but you have to push on the door itself in-between the top of the handle and the window sill. I have checked them over and over and nothing seems to be broken or wrong. I took the door apart and here is what is happening. There is a rod that goes from the handle down to the opening mechanism. When the handle is lifted the rod is pushed down. If I take a really long flat head I can push the assmbly a little bit and then pop it opens fine.
So the plunger so to speak isn't going down far enough. Any ideas on this at all? I know there is a screw that holds the handle in, that is inside the door behind the handle. That is tight. The other screw is in the door jam and that is tight too. I can't seem to find anything on this. Please help as it is now winter and it sucks having to take 30 seconds just to get the frickin door open. BTW it opens fine from the inside for both doors.
Thanks,
Chad
