What do you think? The second pic show how some of the clearcoat hasn't dried yet (after 24 hours  )

It's good in technique, the thing is, the wheels themselves are so ugly, unfortunately...

looks very good, I have done the same to my 90-91 wheels. They look good for now until I can afford another set. Something a lot lighter. :)

Thanks for the compliments.

I love these rims... yet I can't stand the 16" 2G wheels (which I have now)

I just hope they will withstand the test of time and having tires mounted to them.

I wonder if 98 TSi AWD has seen what I am doing to his old rims though :shhh:

those definately look nice. how did u do it all and how much did all the stuff cost you? thats the exact color I want for my rims and doing that would save me a lot of money.

I used Aircraft stipper to remove the old paint. 1 can of that is enough for 1.5 rims. I had to go over a some sections a few times to get all of the paint off. I recomend the spray version (although it doesn't come in a "low odor" version) as it gets into the cracks better and isn't as runny. Buying a quart is cheaper but not as easy to use.

Your paint needs might be different to mine. As you can see, I am painting the lip. What I haven'y shown is the back of the rim is also painted. If you just paint the center section of the rim you will only need 2 cans of the base colour and ~3 of the clear.

I am referring to a guy that has the same user name but his is spaced out unlike yours.

I know, I know, I thought about leaving the lip. I just finished polishing an intercooler so I am not exactly in the mood for more sanding.
