Does anyone know the trick to removing the front seatbelts so that you can take off the interior trim that goes around the rear quarter window??

I looked at the housing that slides up and down on the side of the car but cannot see a way to pop off the plastic housing on order to unbolt the seatbelt.

Thanks

-Nate

in the housing is a crack where the 2 pieces snap together. the way i did it i took a screwdriver and pried them apart. you'll have a bolt showing after that and just undo that too

how exactly do you take the whole seatbest assembly off, I want to be able to wash the seatbelts today...what do i need to do???

Well you remove the back seats to get to the bolts and screws for the plastic piece under the rear 1/4 window, then you remove that plastic piece. That will expose the screws for the plastic around the rear 1/4 window. Take that plastic off. Then above the seatbelt, there is a little plastic piece that snaps in over the upper bolt for the front seatbelt (same as in the back). Pry is off with a flathead screwdriver. Now you will have to get a wrench to un-do the top bolt for the seatbelt and to un-do the bottom bolt for the seatbelt near the base of the back seat. Then there is one more bolt on the floor by the door. Sorry for the length but I hope it helps.

thank you, i got all the paneling off, but now i am trying to figure out how to wash the seatbelts...HELPPPPPP

I would use some powerful hand soap and a toothbrush, maybe even a wire brush. Or you could also buy some heavy duty degreaser and soak them in a bucket overnight.

what about that contraption that spools the belts up???
Hmmm... You could probably soak that too, if you dry it thoroughly after, but I would just un-reel the seatbelt, clip it off somehow so it cannot roll back up, and just hang the spool outside the bucket, or do not wash it. And I wouldn;t worry if you do not clean a couple of inches close to the spool, because that will be behind the plastic and not showing anyway once you get it back together.
