There was no factory alarm on 1Gs, it was probably a dealer-installed profit-booster. If you know who they were, see if they can tell you who's they were buying by the containerful that week for $7/unit.

Most remote-controlled electric stuff has a "learn" function were you set it to pick up whatever remote you trigger next to it. You need to track down the manufacturer of your alarm and find where the button is, or what jigaboo you need to do with the ign to put it into LISTEN UP mode.

You want lazy? I'm getting to where I don't want to bother with fishing the remote out of my pocket.

Mine has a factory alarm even says so in my owners manual I turn the key to lkock it and the security light comes on for a bit even if the windows are down if someone unlocks to doors or opends it the horn starts going off with the lights flashing and the starter is disabled

I even have the sales brouchure from 91 was listed as an option for the TSI and TSI AWD but for some reason in optios it says (Requires Compact Disc Player System) not sure why that would matter

I have the stock alarm also. They're pretty crappy, only way they go off is if you unlock the car without the key. Also the starter isn't disabled if the alarm is going off, at least on mine. Just the other week I wasn't thinking and reached in the window and unlocked my car and set the alarm off. It's the first time it's been set off since I think the week I got the car so I forgot how to disable it. Got in the car and turned it on to see if it would turn off, and the car turned on but the alarm also kept going. Remembered after that to lock it again and then unlock it with the key.

yep my car has the same dumb thing only goes off when you unlock door, actually wait mine also wnet off one time when i popped the hood its when i didnt know i had it so i locked my car popped the hood went in the house to get a drink then all of a sudden honk honk lights flashing i was like wtf. yep so noone has a remote though. that sux.LOL

CRAPPY ALARMS FOREVER!!!!!!!!!

here's what happened see there morons so they figure hey lets just attach the alarm to the locks then someone said what about the cd player they pretty popular, then the manager dick comes in and says yea lets attach the alarm to the cd palyer so it won't get stolen. then some guy with little voice says "why don't we make it disable the starter too" everyone just laughed cuz of how funny his voice was

LOL

i also have this and i do have a remote for mine!not sure if it was added to the facotry alarm but if it helps it says Gargoyl on the remote!

i e-mailed the tech guy when he responds ill let everyone know if they can get a remote for their 1st gen alarm

They do NOT have a remote for the 91 cars. Anything after 91 could have a remote for all I know, but 91 does not have a remote. Also, I was just looking in the owners manual, and the alarm does disable the starter circuit, but you can still start the car as long as you start it with a key.

I would personally like to have a remote myself. Considering you just have to lock your doors either with your key or just from the inside of the car before you close the door, it's not that bad. I just wish that the alarm would go off for more then it not being unlocked without a key.

yea there should be a remote so you can hit the panic button when someones looking at your car and scare the crap out of them :thumb:

LOL guy e-mailed me back he says there is a remote gonna cost me though should i pay 10 bux for a remote that will work with the system?

Who was it you e-mailed again? That seems kind of weird because there's absolutely nothing listed about a remote in the owners manual or the service manual. I also bought my car from the original owner and he said they didn't come with remotes for the alarm. If it's only $10 might as well go for it. What all did the remote do? Was it just to arm the alarm or did it lock and unlock the doors too? Let me know what you find out and how well it works if you buy it, I would be interested in one also if it will work.

Interesting oddity: I still don't know about the 1Gs, but on 2Gs, the Eclipse remote has the Panic feature (and yes, it does make the car panic) but the Talon doesn't (I'd imagine they left the Laser out, too). However, if you open the remote up, the damned circuit board for the Talons has the contacts there for the panic, just no button for it. If you get an Eclipse remote (eBay), you can either program it to the car (actually, you program the car), or put the Talon circuit board in the Eclipse case and voy-luh, you have a panicky Talon.
