hi i just purchased a pair of pyle plm1599d dvc subs http://www.pyleaudio.com/itemdetail.asp?model=PLM1599D <-- is the pic at thier site. the manual to these subs dont state what size of reccomended box the require. i want to make a sealed box for them for my car but dont know how much cu ft they require the max size i can fit for a box in my car is a 34x18x13.5 box that equals about 3.7 cu ft of air space inside for both subs and it will be partitioned so each sub has its own airspace (1.8 cu ft for each sub). what i want to know is if anyone has these subs or knows how much cu ft of airspace they require? i cant contact pyles support says page cannot be found everytime. any help will greatly be appreciated. thank you

No offense, but Pyle is probably the crapiest car audio brand out there. I would personally prefer stock speakers over them. A decent single 10" sub would even murder those things. But if you're determined to use them...keep a few things in mind: there's no way in hell those things can take 1500w.....I wouldn't be surprised if that sub couldn't even handle 300w RMS. Second, any hope of SQ is completley gone. If you don't really care about how good your music sounds, and just want to tell all your friends you have a pair of 15's...go for it. To get the most out of those subs I would try to build a box that is atleast 2.0 cubic feet per sub and use a decent amp that will give each sub anywhere from 150-250w RMS.

As long as it sounds good, who cares? Everyone has there own preference when it comes to audio. I have 1 15"Memphis Sub in a huge box w/a 800watt bridged at 1200 at 2OHM, I take out when i race, but all it does is make my car heard for a few miles LOL, sounds alright inside, but the ladies can hear me commin and thats all thats important to me ;)

well i bought them new on a ebay store for 99 a pair. my friend bought a pair and i was quit impressed by them they hit hard and distortion free, in my opinoin better than alot of top of the line name brand subs ive owned and heard. i was a big rockford fosgate user but these hit harder and sounded alot better with no distortion. yes i knew pyle wasnt a good brand till i heard these
but i suppose if they had a RF, JL, Kicker logo in the middle of the cone they'd automatically be better

To answer the question, you will need the Vmax, Vof, Q and frequency range to figure the correct box size. If yer subs did not come with that info, a good rule of thumb is for sensitivity lower than 90db, add .25 ft3 for every 3db onto 1 ft3. For sensitivity over 90db, subtract .25ft3 for every 3db (this only seems to work for 12's in my experience). The 'Car Stereo Cookbook' is a terrific resource.

TY for an answer i was looking for and not a comment on a shitty deal i got, i got all the Vmax, Vof, Q ect ect that came thith the subs manuals. i need the formula that tells me what size of box i need with all this info on the subs

Like i said, whutever sounds good 2 you is all that matterz. I mean, most people don't even change there stock speakers, anything is better than stock in most cases. If it sounds good to you then go for it.

You obviously have very little experience in car audio. Either that or you're deaf. Whatever floats your boat though...just save yourself some humiliation and don't try to show them off.

And I seriously hope you're not referring to RF when you said "top of the line name brand subs."

Unfortunatley, I have. I've been building custom stereo systems since I was about 17. I could probably name 100 car audio brands you had no idea even existed.

bah, they better than stock, most people never change them anyway. I've seen the stock ones on a 2G, they are a pos ;)

Ummm...DSMs never offered "subs" as a stock option.

I'd rather not waste my time. To type out 100 different brands would take more time than you're worth. But the fact that you referred to rockford fosgate as a a "top end brand name sub" proves to me you're extremely miseducated in the subject. But then again this can easily be concluded from the fact that you dropped $100 into "Pyle" subs.

I'm done here, ignorance is bliss in your case. Next time you've got a question considering your "Pyle" subs...take it to a car audio specific forum and see what kinds of answer you get.:thumb:

yeah johnny LOL people ask questions and want positive anwsers. And I thought you said you replaced the Stock speakers, How much did you pay for the Pyle? They may suk but look at name, "plye, like plye of shit" And Bluapunkd, Bluuua is the sound u get out of those. But subs are subs, sometimes to much bass sux, and besides you have a hatchback, your plye subs will work great man. Subs are better than nothing, doesn't matter whut brand it is.

well the correct box size for any sub wether its a quality brand or a "pyle" of sht brand makes a big difference for any sub. nothing makes a sub sound bad worse than wrong box size. far as goin to wal mart for a box they dont carry a dual 15" box and a premade 1 dont fit in my car so i have to make 1. i got the subs cus they were cheap looked nice and did sound suprisingly good. they have no logo on the cone so no one would know they are pyle or a high dollar top of the line brand . i doubt anyone could tell by listining to them unless they owned a pair. and i didnt get them to brag to my buds that i got a pair of 15's

oh so your putting 2 15s in?Dang, I don't think its possible. I had 2 15s but the box wuz to big, and It wuz the smallest dual box for a 15, so I just cut it in half because boxes are expensive LOL, and it sounds great. What you may want to do is buy 2 truck 15"sub boxes, im sure it wouldn't sound to great but they would be able to get in. Otherwise you might want to consider fiberglassing your trunk and turn the whole thing into a box. And your right about the box making all the diff. I wouldn't suggust a plexi glass box though, not in a hatchback, would sound clear, but you wouldn't get much hit at all. Think about what you want ta do though, but ur subs will kick it either way.

i was thinking offiberglassing a sub box and making a rear deck out of a mold we have at work that is a flat panel about 32"x56" that is a tread bright pattern (diamond bed plating may be refered to as). i work in a fiberglass shop so i got acsess to all the equipment and matereals so it cost me nothing to do and i dont have to brush the resin on either. we use a gun that takes strands of fiberglass and chops it into small fine strands and applies it to the mold in a nice even coat however thick i need. i hated workin with fiberglass by hand and a brush. i just want to figure out the correct box size before doin all this though.
