Hey, my birthday is coming up in a little less than two months and i wanted some advice. I am going to ask for a whole sound system for my birthday, subs, amp, kicker, head unit all that stuff and i wanted to know what i should get? like names of all of the products...what u think would go good with the head unit i want to get...the Alpine CDA-7894. Anyone have this one? Any feedback..

Alpines are some of the best HU's out there...nice choice. if i were you i'd check out the forums at www.sounddomain.com learn as much as possible and you won't be kickin yourself in the a$$ later down the road.

yup, good call on the forum, you can learn alot from those guys. just be careful, sometimes people can be very opinionated w/ brand choices. you will see countless battles between focal vs rainbow, vs mb quart, HU battles, Alpine vs Pioneer. Just think carefully, buy the best you can, so in the futrure you do not kick yourslef in the ass for not buying what you should have, then buying somehting again, and in the end spending what you would have the 1st time around.

I love my Alpine head. All the pretty features just rock...especially the internal EQ. I think the ability to totally cut bass from your imaging speakers and send it to the sub, where it belongs anyway, is a great selling feature. Other HU's like Kenwood's Excelon units are close, but no one has it down quite like Alpine. Another big thing is the XM radio. I drive between Amarillo and Dallas nearly every weekend, and the 100 un-interrupted channels of digital audio are a true gift from heaven when your 100 miles from any radiostation. The XM Tuner is a feature that you may just want to get. The $10 a month really isn't bad when you actually hear the quality. I like tons of bass, so the only real option was a set of good JL's and a 1000w amp. Boom baby boom. The 10 inch powerwedge with a set of 10w3's is a perfect fit in my FWD 1G. I didn't heav to replace my front speakers. With the "60w" (around 22w RMS) amp cut at 60Hz, I can crank the unit all the way up without distorting anything.

check out ECA, there seem to be less @ssholes at www.elitecaraudio.com than at soundomain.

i have been a member of Elite for a long time, but since i have modded my dsms', car audio is in my past.
IF you want i'm cleaning out my closet, i have ALOT of stuff for sale that is BRAND NEW never used. i have posted in the classified section there under the same usename.
