I cut the stock harness into three connectors and installed my h4s... everything looks good and it looks bright outside the car but when driving its not brighter than the stock light bulbs.. ive done many searches and have found almost nothing on this subject but im wondering if ne one has done the conversion and if so what was the outcome..?? ne help would be greatly appreciated.

btw i have a 1990 plymouth laser.. euro sealed beam conversion and 100/80 watt h4s..

sure check em out.. if they r not good sorry i did it at night with flash..

i bought them from ebay for 51 bucks... they r 4x6" kits.. the only thing is that in my opinion they r not as bright as stock sealed beams... ive only had them a few days and maybe i am not used to them.. they light up right in front of my car beautiful but to see like 20 feet away its not as bright.. maybe i did them wrong thats what im trying to find out.. but on ebay search sealed beam conversion and u will find it.. ours is the h4666 conversion so look for that one their is more than one...

Who's bulbs? Get either Phillips, OSRAM, Hella, Sylvania or Bosche. If you have some *%&&^ blue, xenon or hyper CRAP, there's your problem.
Also, how have you checked the aim? Find a brick wall with a good, flat area next to it, drive up to about ten feet from the wall, get the beams even, and on low beam, when you back up about forty feet, the beam shouldn't drop any on the wall. If they rise any, you're also throwing it away besides irritating other drivers.

oooo... i have xenon 100/80 watt hyper whites... i guess ill try sylvania then... thanks ill try that then... the aim is good because i went to a wall and past a certain point about 30 or so feet u cant see the light shine on the wall

what type of sylvanias should i get i see some at the auto parts store but they come one bulb.... is their a special two bulb set like the xenons? ne help would be appreciated thanks

It's always possible that the housings are crap and not focusing the light properly, and even with good bulbs they will never perform.
The good H4 conversions seem to use the Hella E spec housings to get a focused beam with sharp cutoff.

That's probably it. They're NOT 100/80, despite what the liars claim. They DO make good airgun targets. Sylvania has some expensive ones (Silver Star, I think), but their regular line -such as Wal*Mart has on the rack are just fine. You might check a hotrod truck shop for some _true_ high-power ones, just don't get anything in a blingy-looking box.
When you pull out your "hyper" bulbs, hold them up next to whatever you're replacing them with, and see how much bigger the fillaments are in the honest bulb. BT/DT.

Johnnyboy,
Do you have a relay kit? You may not be getting enough power to them...

no i dont have a relay kit... I wasnt aware i need one ???
The bulbs r pretty bright but i think the housing is crap because if u look at the bulb itself it is way brighter than stock from what i can see but the way it is dispersed it is not so bright on the ground... but then again i could be wrong.. have u done the conversion?? if so did u use a relay ?? thanks for ne help u can give me

You need relays because the stock lights are 55 watts each. That is 9 amps going through your lights stock on your steering column. You have upgraded to 100 watts each. That is over 16 amps going through your stalk. You will burn it out since it wasn't designed to pass that much current. Go to www.rallylights.com and check out the info on the Hella lights. They explain everything.

i have switched back to 55/66w and on the page i looked at for ford probes they do not use a relay for the headlamps. The 100s were working fine for a days and they were getting the stock wires hot or ne thing. ??? I dont think its a power issue i think i need some hella e code housings maybe.. Thanks for all your guyz help though.
