So I ordered a flat carbon fiber panal that is 1/8" thick flat high gloss on one side, rough on the other.
I am making a single panal thay covers the entire center section of my 2G dash. Ill be putting riser knobs on the ac controls, and i have removed all the vent stuff, and relocated my stereo so i can have alot of space to mount gauges, switches and any thing i may need.

the thing is the carbon panal needs to be bent, well curved slighly to match the slope of the center consol, nothing drastic just a gradual bend, im sure you all know. The panal as it is bends very little and im worried it migh snap if i try to bend it into place as it is. So can i heat it some how and bend it into place? would a heat gun do or should i heat it in the oven then press into a template mold? Thanks for your help.

well a flat carbonfiberpanel doesnt bend so easily..ad doesnt hold up good to it either.Thats why you mold it in a plug..to get the shape you want from the start....If its just a little...I guess you can make it a litle roundish..but nothing big....Better to have it molded from the start as it should be

i agree, i did do a test pice in the oven at 350, bends, ill need to make a rough thing to bend it in, it just is slight, i hope i dont have too many ripples on the clear coat
