Also a couple other pics in the gallery...

So who actually likes the rims better than the stock look?
Left the lip polished and i thought that would look way better anyway!

Well les hear some opinions!?!?!?!

the black looks awesome with the purple man, like a giant bruise rollin down the road :D :thumb:

Very nice - so what condition were they in before? Mine are curb rashed and are showing definite signs that they should be refinished - but I'm just worried that not everything will be fixed up.

Edit: Which FAQ? I know there's one listed on VFAQ - but the link is dead.

That one...
Hey wasteful yours kinda look darker than mine, is it the angle or is it the rim itself is darker?

Also my rims were in AWSOME condition when i got em, no curbs no anything so im fine there. Also i was thinking about painting my stock 5spokes that came on my GS BLACK. Not gunmetal but BLACK BLACK.

Anyone think i should?

I worked slow as shit.
I did it in 6 hours.

Took me about 1 hour to prep and clean em very well with the aircraft paint remover. Then i taped them all up like in the faq's pics. Laid them out and painted about 4 cotes of color on them, the coats are very light!!!

DO NOT DO A HEAVY COAT!!!
Then between coats give it about 10-15 mins that way it dosent completely dry but it gets a little sticky and the next coat will stick to that coat and so-on.

As far as how many cans?
I used 2 Air Craft Paint Remover Cans.
2 1/4 Cans Of Clear Coat.
2 1/2 Coans of Color.

If you got any other questions bro ill be more than happy to help.
Also just so you guys know (guys that are thiking about doin it).

This was my first time to actually spray-paint something!!!
Taking your time is going to be the key in prepping for this job.

Also make sure you take out your center caps... The Aircraft paint shit will eat them and turn them into a goo pile.

As far as i have noticed i got one complaint, but its not a very BAD one.
If you drive fast as hell for a lil while (couple races????) 100+.
Then you get out of the car to let it cool the rims themselves will be very warm and you could probably put a fingerprint in your rims if you pressed on them hard enough. Ill Prolly try to find a better clear and hit them ONE LAST TIME!!!

Then they will be done for good till i can get enough cash to buy me some new actual RIMS. Even tho im considering painting those stockers that came on the gs. Even considering painting the ones on the gsr-BLACK not a gunmetal but a BLACK. I think a white teg with black rims would look A W S O M E ! ! ! ! !

Other than that little thing bro the rims are going badass!

Nice job. :thumb:

What kind of paint did you use? Maybe the DupliColor ceramic based paint would work better(made for valve covers & engine parts) since its made for high heat.
And a white teg with black rims would look good. Add a CF hood to tie it all together...

i wanna try this, but it will be harder for me, as i have the SEVERELY G@Y "mesh" wheels...has anyone done this on the 1G mesh wheels? did it work?

PLEASE HELP! i wanna fix my retarded rims....

:thumb:

Ima tell you now.

I would be so scared to paint those, just because the fact that it has alot of little spots to get in...

If you do paint em remember my words...
LIGHT
COATS

I'd see about setting up a bicycle wheel or an old record player or a lazy susan or something so you could spin them while you paint them. I don't know how else you'd get an even coating with so many surfaces.

98Red, seems if you'd lay those wheels out in the Louisiana sun for a day, it should cure them out and harden up the paint....

when i get some extra cash, i'm gonna try it on my mesh wheels...if it doesnt work, it will be another reason for me to buy some _good_ rims for the Laser. :thumb:
