It wouldn't be custom it would look like any early dsm with flip ups. Honestly i wouldn't waste my time and money if i were you. That type of conversion would cost probably more than it's worth.

well, it is an early dsm but the sides, rear bumper, taillights, and spoiler are completely different

There has got to be someone out there that has done this conversion? I can't be the only one that likes the body styling of the 92-94 but the front end of the 90-91??????

hey me too. my ideal one would be a black 92 tsi awd with the 90-91 talon rear wing that blends into the hatch and goes all the way around, 90-91 front clip with no little middle grill piece between the lights and a rizq front bumper, and the stock 92-94 talon front fender side skirt pieces' emblems filled and the whole car de-badged. oh and the rear side bumper lights shaved along with the little side gills.
anyways, it's all bolt in stuff. the front fenders won't match up of course but all of the body pieces bolt right on the same. the only thing i'm not sure about is the stuff for the motors for the pop-ups but you could steal the switches and wiring too.

well I have an entire 91 awd. the car is smashed from the rear so i have from the front seats up, all in perfect condition - i was just going to take the bumper, lights, hood, fenders and whatever else i needed and swap them onto my car i just wanted to know if someone else has done this - especially wiring the motors and things i wanted to see just how hard it was. . . . but thanks for the support - i guess i may have to be the first to start the project. . .

probly not the first but not well documented though. i'm not sure but i'd guess that it'd all just plug in. (using the car it came off for reference)

well lets hope - i'll be starting thurs morning ill have to document and make a vfaq - hopefully i can get a camera . . .

I know a kid who did, well is trying to do the opposite, put a 92 front end on a 90, from what he says its not gonna be that bad, but I have yet to see the final outcome.

changing a 90 to a 92 would be easier cuz you don't have to wire the pop-up motors or anything. plus the headlights would be cooler because the signal bulbs in the front headlights would only turn on when you use the signals (like the 90-91).

My friend did something similar for his Civic.... Moving it from a 92-95 to a 96+ frontend...

All he did = remove everything from front clip.. that means radiator, old headlights, foglamps, bumper cover, whatever.

Cut off old clip, welded on the new one, threw on all the new pieces. Most difficult part, probably only applies to Hondas but... he has to mate the front half of the new fenders to the back portion of the old ones. It will be a PITA but.. it'll look sweeeet once he's done.

it shouldn't be that hard to find the parts. alot of the 1ga guys don't like their pop-ups and want the 1gb look. find someone like that and just stright out trade part for part.

he already said he has all the stuff needed, from his friend's totalled car.

he has his own 1Gb
and his friends wrecked 1Ga with the good front end

Hope you get it all done.

Later,

Well guys so far its working out pretty well, almost everything lines up perfect. The only problems I had were 1) had to do a little trimming to get the 1ga fenders to fit right and 2) the turnsignal lights and the center grill piece dont just "bolt on" so i have to figure out a way to get them to stay . . . any ideas? If you want to see pics of it so far check out my photo gallery, its not painted or anything yet and its not completely finished but so far I think it looks pretty good - comments/suggestions welcome

lookin good. there was a guy just a couple days ago that popped up in the gallery that had a really nice copper 1ga and he put the 92-94 talon rear end on and shaved the side moldings along with the side gills. really hot. be sure to get some pics up once it's finished. and as for the lights and stuff, im pretty sure there is some sort of bracket or trim piece you overlooked if i'm not mistaken.

well there is a few brackets but they're welded onto the body and i was hoping there was an easier way versus hacking the old ones off and welding them on - oh well i guess that would be better than having them fall off from some ghetto rig;) i have some vacation days next week so ill try to get it done - what was the guys name with the copper car? i didnt see it. . . .

:dsm: :talon:

Yeah man you got everything you need...the only hassel is cutting and welding the mounts and fitting the pop-ups into there, might have to clear some stuff to fit the popups in, goodluck:thumb:

his dsmtuners name was boosted90awd just search the name and you'll find it. it was actually more of a mettalic burnt orange-ish. i got the two mixed up cuz i was thinking of a friend's car that's doing a similar thing with copper though.

that looks awesome cant wait to see it painted...pop-ups rule man.
and i wanted to put the rear bumper of a 92-94 talon on my car for a long time never had the cash and time too.... maybe one day.....

hey guys I got the lights in and reprimed everything a darker grey, I have some more adjusting to make everything perfect but I think its coming along - let me know what you think

thanks:thumb: I'm very pleased how it came out, just need to save up some more money and get her all painted up
:dsm: :talon:

The swap looks amazing... i just bought a car indenical to what yours looked like stock, and i love the flip ups. honestly would you find the time and money it took to swap it worth it?

[Uh.... he's not been on since 2004.]
