i have painted many parts of my interior like alot of people have and i used krylon paint. Now that krylon fusion is out (if you dont know, it bonds directly to plastic), im wondering if i need to sand down all my pieces down to the bare plastic before painting again. I really dont want to sand everything again since thats alot of work. Any input??? Im thinking i need to but i want to be sure first as its alot of work

Definitely sand it down.... make sure its clean as hell after you sand it or the paint won't stick very long....
i work at a paint store...
no one wants to sand anything but trust me if you want it to last and look right.. sand it.... then do a couple of thin coats of paint...

yea, i figured thats what i would have to do, just making sure, hopefully it turns out good. Also, i was thinking of completely stripping my interior and dying my carpet. I hear using a garbage can and doing this with rit dye works best, any ideas?

Yup!!! RIT dye and a garbage can! BELIEVE ME ... you want to use your garbage can unless you want to stain your tub! Mine came out good, just did it this weekend! I'll try and post pics a little later!

usually with normal spray paint, yes you would, but this new stuff, you just spray it on the plastic directly and it says it bonds on a molecular level. Im going to redo all my interior once it gets nicer outside.

would you want to use a primer before applying the krylon fusion paint to plastic

i don't think so. from what it sounds like krylon fusion is just their brand name for vynl dye which the plastic kind of absorbs like a sponge. the primer would seal th pores in the plastic and keep the dye from bonding

Has anyone found it? I went to Home Depot and Lowes and they didnt have it yet. The guy at Lowes and I argued about it too. He said there was no such paint!

I went to Homedepot today and asked and the guy gave me a weird "theres no such thing" look and just walked away.

again, where is this mystery paint found? I have been to Auto Zone, Checker, Wal-Mart, and True Value and none of them have heard of Krylon Fusion.... is the Krylon company just playing a cruel joke with their commercials or what?

I haven't been able to find it around here either. At least the people I've talked to have heard of the stuff, just not seen it.

Btw, rubbing alcohol works good for removing the armor all before painting.

i work at sherwin williams and we carry about 7 or 8 different colors of the krylon fusion. if the closest SW to you doesnt have it in stock they can order it for you.
