How to fix rust spots

Hey guys so I have 2 rust spots that I need to fix. 1 is on my trunk directly under the wing, and the other is on the roof. I'm new to rust and am not sure exactly how to fix it I have one pic posted ill try and add the next picture of the roof

Remove your spoiler. Sand with 320 grit until all of the rust is visually gone. Sand again with 400 grit until any gouge marks are gone. Clean area well. Prime, wetsand with 600 grit. Clean area. Paint area. Wetsand any imperfections with 800 to 1000 (depending on severity) and clearcoat.
Reinstall spoiler.

It's just surface rust, its probably less hassle to get rid of the rust yourself, and bring it to a bodyshop and have it professionally painted.

How does one get rust in NM? And I would take it to a shop because blending that paint will not be easy. You would probably need to just do the whole hatch and the whole roof section.

I recommend some sort of rust converter since the tiniest particle of rust can make it look worse in a couple of years.
