Painted my Engine Bay!

Well, after a year of trying to get the car running right, I'm finally at a point where I can start working on cleaning her up. Things didn't look too clean at all under the hood, so I went ahead and painted the bay a low gloss black. I also cleaned up a few other small things here and there. Let me know what you guys think!

Meh. Honestly, it just looks like the car was previously black, and didn't want to go through the effort of matching it. Not tryin to give you a hard time.

If you like it though, then that's what matters.

Or maybe the OP painted it like he said?

I'm not saying the OP DIDN'T paint it. I am saying that is what it LOOKS like based on my opinion on how it looks.

Not a fan of a primered look. Gloss black or color of the car would look better

Yeah, I was never a huge fan of different color engine bays, but the white gets so dirty, so easily. I've never seen a white car with a black engine bay. Dare to be different, I guess!

It must be a new thing. Color coordinated's my preference, but I've seen a perfect red engine bay painted gold so... enjoy! (and no, It's not mine. Lol)

Black engine bays are easy to keep clean. White-not so much
White cars are easy to keep clean- Black not so much

Good combo

Not that black bays are easier to keep clean. They just hide more dirt and oil.

I did that to my last eclipse, but didn't do it gloss...

The one I got now, I'm doing differently. The bay will match the valve cover, and most everything else will be black, but not the bay itself.

It looks good! White bays are so hard to keep clean. Fox's is covered in road grime and random oil spills. This will make it easier!

I painted my bay black. But I would never go anything but semi-gloss of flat. You can touch it up in a heartbeat with zero trace that you resprayed it. Can you say that about gloss?

i like the black. it matchs any color to the outside and makes the engine stand out. i would pant some bright colors on the valve cover and engine parts tho. pick like 2 colors that go well together or somthing. i wanna hit my eclipse with some black primer with the engine in tho, it will be tough but a hillbilly (previos owner) hit some engine bay areas with yellow so anything i can do will look better. ive already done some of the lower stuff when i had my tranny out got rid of the yellow (stock color is a dark green), need to do upper areas to match.....

The black looks great, matches and provides that extra depth to the engine bay that makes a viewer take a second look. Nice work

I like it, looks really good.

I'm going to be painting mine black as well, but I'll also be changing the exterior colour too...but not to black My idea is getting as much black under the hood as I can, so the parts I want to stand out - "Pop". I even played with the concept of everything black except the valve cover.

edit: hate red/blue hose ends
