installing a sunroof

To do it right is quite a bit of work. You would probably be better off installing a clamp on style removeable roof panel. Besides, I have a sunroof and the damn thing rattles constantly, even after putting in rubber grommets and spacers between the frame and body.

I like them better with out, and it's hard tup find a turbo car with out one. Save your monies for something else like stereo equipment.

I agree, You think it's a good idea until it leaks.

I hate mine. Ive seriously considered having it removed and the hole filled in.

The motor assembly is heavy in the worst possible place to have a heavy thing.

dont do it, i hate mine. rattles, used to leak, not worth it. wish i had a gsx with out one.

I have very seriously considered cutting the roof off of a GS, cutting off my roof, and welding in the solid roof. My only concern preventing me from doing that would be getting it cut exact enough to not look crappy at the window line.

If you can live without a headliner (additional expense), it takes about 2 hours for install. Align the stencil, make your marks, cut with rotozip, install sunroof, enjoy sunshine :) I just did a sunroof install of a 20"x32" SFC Sunroof about 3 weeks ago, not a single leak, I get nothing but complements and I get fresh air :D In short: its not hard, BUT you should install strut braces when you do it to reduce any body roll.

Additionally, go here: http://www.sunroofdoctor.com/ and check out their pop-up manual sunroof kits, if you do everything right you wont have any issues.

I'd stay away from doing this, the negatives outweigh the positives in this case. The cost of doing this properly would be quite high, as well as having to deal with a leaky sunroof assembly, its the number one thing I wish my car did not have. As well as making the car less torsionally ridgid.

OP I have thought about this before too. I even started looking at getting all OEM parts to do it. Basically came down to around $300 and the risk of a car leaking that never previously leaked. To me it was not work the risk and headache of it. Don't get me wrong I love the sunroof in my 09 Altima SL but it was factory installed and warrantied not to leak!
