BASS without WOOFERS!!!

Hey guys/gals...just picked up a 93 Talon AWD and need new speakers. I want to get the most bass from the components in the cabin. Don't want woofers cause weight slows the car down...Learned that the hardway with my supercahrged Integra... Put a full system in the rear and lost major power!

Why don't you design a system with subwoofers that you could easily remove when you want to go to the track?

Good idea! But when you got a punk-ass VTEC blowin up the spot...No time to say...Hang on and let me throw my Amps/Subs out....While I'm at it, let me turn up my boost comtroller too.... Its just easier when you got the go...when you gotta go!!

get the illusion subs their low wight and slim so thay will fit in your door 1 amp and the spekers up by the windows use realy good tweets and use good 3way 6x9s in back

Get the system you want and just make the car crazy fast. That way, you won't have to wory about the extra 50 pounds of system weight.

you can easily pick up some nice components with strong midbass, but you'll never get that low-end bass you get with subs. it really depends on how much you wanna spend tho. for cheap you could go with some crystal components from sounddomain.com for about $130 and any decent amp that puts out 100wx2 rms or if you've got the cash flow, get some rainbow components which will run you around $600 and any decent amp that puts out 150wx2 rms. decent amp, meaning not those cheap POS's from best buy or circuit city. goodluck.

my setup only wieghs like 35 lbs.. max. Think of it as closer to a 50/50 weight distribution You could get a 10 inch sub in a small box, that would add maybe 20 lbs. The illusion that subs add weight come from people with 3 of them in a heavy duty box.

i have two bazooka 12's and a custom made bandpass box. im guessin it weighs close to over 80 lbs. and a 600 watt amp thats around 3 lbs prolly. i just pull it out for at the track. and for those who want to race on the street. I just rev my engine as if im gonna race them then when the light turns green wait till they take off lookin like a dip #@%#@%#@%#@%. its pretty fun you should try it. i do it to mustangs all the times

i had shakers installed in my seats with a 100 watt amp on them the shook so much i couldn't drive with them on

Use dynomat!!!! It helps a lot, and also maybe check out some of those speaker baffles. Plus you want to make sure the speaker is even capable of digging down to those low notes first. At least 40 at the lowest.

Probably the best thing you can do for your ears. When you lower the amount of road noise you lower your radio's listening level. That leaves more headroom for your amps and longer hearing for idiots like me that like to crank the music up.

20lbs. huh...that would have to be one tiny a$$ box and a really light sub......my guess is the bass you could expect from that would be rather weak. for good results you need a couple things...a strong and solid box (3/4" MDF, which is HEAVY) and usually if you want "louder, deeper" bass you'll need a larger box (depending on the specs for your particular sub) and especially if going ported. plus subs with larger magnets GENERALLY are louder...which also means they weigh more. if you're lookin for nothing too great, a little bump in the trunk...you could get away with 1 "good" 10" sub in a decent box with sufficient power, i'd expect that to be ATLEAST 35 lbs. for the whole setup.

Gotta sneak it in again...the tirangle Bazooka subs are plenty loud and rather small. They sound wonderful and will rattle your mirrors with 150w. I know...no one wants a bazooka, but I have to amit, they got this sub right.

Infinity Basslink. 10" sub, built in amp and x-over ( in think )....and only 22lbs, and it's really small and sounds pretty good. In a hatch it will sound really good.

they are "decent"...but for the money you can do ALOT better. guess it depends on just ow important small & lightwieght is to you tho.........

What do you think would be better for around the same as a basslink ( $200+ on Ebay, $400 in store ). Not trying to be an a$$, just curious, maybe you know something I don't?

The main advantage of the basslink is size and weight.

how about a Cerwin Vega 124 12" for $100 (www.thezeb.com) & JBL 300.1 for about $140 (www.sounddomain.com, 105% price guarantee). need i remind you, these will also come with factory WARRANTY. in a 2.5-3 cube ported box, i do believe that would easily put the basslink to shame. with that basslink you're lookin at a 10" sub & 200w for $200+ on ebay alone (need i remind you the majority of e-bay sellers are NOT certified dealers, therefore the factory warranty will NOT be valid). i showed you a better 12" sub and 300w rms amp setup for a comparable price...i could easily find a smaller sub & amp for even less.

like you said, the basslink is $400 in stores.....just imagine what you could do with $400

also, the example i used would be comparable (if not better) to the sq of infinity...if you're lookin for basically an spl setup...it'd be easy to find a sub and amp that would murder the basslink for even less than that.

the ONLY advantage of the basslink is size and weight. if you think the basslink is a braggable setup, you've obviously been deprived from any mid to high end audio equipment.

hmm, that wouldn't be too bad. I don't normally look at JBL and Cerwin-vega products. But I know that I myself am looking for light weight, small size and some good boom ( good sq and ok for spl )
