I've currently got a Momo steering wheel on my car and what appears to be a collapsable hub/collumn with it.

I got this Sparco wheel to replace the Momo and the Sparco will not fit over the hub/collumn that the Momo is on so I think I need to get a matching collumn/hub for the Sparco wheel.

Have any of you guys that have an uprgaded steering wheel encountered this? Where do I get the proper hub/collumn from?

Thanks for any help.

I'd say Sparco offhand, if they sold you a wheel specifically for the eclipse it should come with things like that, call me old fashioned, but I like the grant GT wheels the best(my little bit of classic muscle in my modern car)

You can get a hub from Sparco. It's around 40 dollars.

Grant's stuff just looks too cheap for my tastes.

cool, yeah the hub says momo on it so...thanks I will make some calls on mon to find the correct hub

GS guy, I see yoru point but I think its neccassary for sparco to offer the hub seperate from the wheel. What if you already have the hub when you order a new sparco wheel...it will be useless to you. Plus sparco would be wasting a lot of money by offering a hub with every steering wheel. Sparco just needs to educate their dealers more. Like it would be great if when you went to by a new sparco steering wheel the dealer asked, "hey would you like to purchase a hub with your wheel so that you can use the damn thing when you get it?"

sh it thats what I need then....where did you order it from cause they will most likely know what this "extension" is that I need.

does it look like this?

I was trying to get it off one day to deal with an alignmet and it bent a little, I know if I hit that thing at like 50 or 60 that it will give, which is what I want.

Is there any real performance reason that people put aftermarket steering wheels on or is it strictly cosmetic?? I was just curious because I never understood why people switched steering wheels and got rid of the airbag.

Another question.... is it legal to disable your airbag system? Would it pass inspection without airbags?

some is for cosmetic appearances but think of it like this. You go to a road corse or rally race and are going to run your car. Picture first using a big rig steering wheel....yeah, one of those huge mofos and think about going around the corners with it and how much you have to turn the wheel to get the car to turn. !! ok now picture it with your stock wheel, not as bad right, not as much turning the actual wheel involved over the big rig steering wheel, then picture doing it with a smaller than stock wheel, you will have to turn it less or rotate the wheel less to get the wheels to turn where as if you had that big wheel from the truck on there you'd still be turning the wheel while the other guy is around the cornner already. Think of underdrive pullies on your car ;)

And then there are some steering wheels that allow a little bit more ease of entry like the wheels that are flat on the bottom so your knees don't hit it. I got this one except the center is black too. :thumb:

Cool, I understand now. Thanks.

I never really took the time to look close enough to realize that the aftermarket one's were smaller than the stock.

inspection wise all you need is for the horn to work, airbag doesnt matter, at least in jersey!

thats also the one I have only the center is black and I have 2 more buttons. the two on the wheel are the horn, one is purge and the other is the button for the ITS boost controller it moves me to the next stage. and I am thinking of another one foe a drive drink button!!!!OMG

I think my stock 1g steering wheels seems to be just fine for me, but if i had a 2g i would get rid of that airbag in a second, i think they're just for people who don't wear seat belts. Buckle Up fool

call em and ask for dan he has always treated me really well I have bought probably 5k worth of stuff from him.

hmm, not sure what kind of hubs/columns karts have but if you look at the bolt pattern it is the same as my mugello wheel so yes that wheel with the lap counter on it would fit our cars.

funny thing is, I talked to that dan guy at the above posted number and he said that there is no adapter plate for the 1g dsm's. He said I have to do without a horn, which bugs me cause I am used to driving in Chicago where paople lay on the horn to communicate with one another :D

I will call Sparco or email them one of these days

I wil call him I have an adapter for my 1g eclipse and my horn works. and that is not for a go kart I race shifter karts and kart hubs only have 3 holes on the sparco site look at karting stuff you will see. also you would have horrible luck using that timing thing on a kart. they make automatic timing stuff for karts thats cheap. I run a 7 channel data system that makes track maps and I only paid 799 for it.

well what part number is this adapter? I need it to fit on a momo column (like shiown above) and need it to mate to a sparco mugello wheel.

if not, I get no horn and just bolt it right up against the column
