Hey I have seen many people on here that have autometer gauges that glow blue so that they match the indiglo gauges and all the other blue things. How do you change the color and whee can you get the bulbs or materials. Thanks

Pretty sure all you need is a bulb condom, I don't know exactly how you get it on the bulb or where the bulb even is, as I haven't taken mine apart or done this, but hopefully someone can chime in cus I'd like to do mine also.

when you are talking about chaging them to blue, i think you have to buy the cobalt gauges, i hope im wrong, becaus i would like to have blue lights in my autometer gauges,

No they werent cobalts they were ultralites but instead of the white backglow it was blue.

it's pretty simple. Twist the bulb out of the back of the gauge (meaning you'll have to pull it out of the pod if already installed). The bulb is probably clear unless you added the red/green condom. You can buy blue replacement bulbs at any auto store. I'm not sure what the size is but they are the really generic interior bulb with the flat end.

you mean like mine???

put leds in it with a 330 ohm resistor on the + side, bright as hell, not fake ass light like the bulb condoms or the heat of the superwhite/blue bulbs :)

here's a pic of a red bulb(top) and a condom(bottom). i know that piaa has a bulb that is actually a led but is a wedge bulb. someone on 2gnt.com did that and they looked awesom.

or if your really crafty, buy some of the neon string at autozone and with a flat head screwdriver work the lip that holds the bezel to the guage till the bezel will come off, pull out the rubber in there and line the inside of the bezel with the neon cord then replace. start bending the bezel back to original positionwnd run the neon cord thru the bottom, wahla neon glow ...:) since i took all the guages out and replaced them with autometer i did that little trick to all of them looks really cool ....but i agree about the blue led... works well also.

Yea Airpoppoff exactly what you have, so I just pull that black piece where the wires run intot he gauge out and solder a blue led to the resistor and then solder that to the positive wire and thats it.

exactly that man, its cake, i have to leds in my gauges in series, to angle at both sides, bright as hell at night, and the orange dial shows up awesome... anything else brian let me know

No I dont think so, you soldered to leds to the resistor then and then put that on the positive wire, sounds pretty easy, if the bulb easy to get out of the gauge.

I just went to Autozone and got the colored bulbs... they are like model 914 or 944... I can't remember but they are the same ones as you can pop out fo the gauge or for all your interior lights. VERY COMMON. and the colors look much better than the condoms.

yes, exactly those

yeah dude, those bulbs suck, they turn green after about a month

Poppoff,
i did the leds on the gauges last night and it worked very well. I only used 1 bulb in each gauge and it was still brighter. Thanks for the idea. I did the HVAC Led light but would have never thought about using them in my gauges. Thanks for the help.:thumb:

can you do that with the carbon fibers? i was looking into this as well...

cobalts? aww man, you're gonna spend $400 for a set of boost/AF/EGT gauges, i'd just assume spend $150 and do it myself... freakin' electrical gauges...

Hey boostin did you use just one led or two like Airpoppoff. Also Airpoppoff if I do two leds in there do I have to get two resistors or can I solder both leds to one resistor.

Hey, I took the bulb out and soldered the resistor to the positive side and then soldered the led to the resistor, I havent put them in yet, but does that sound right.
