For some reason this is about the only place I can post, but yeah. I took my car to maaco today paid about $1227 for the paint job. It also includes them repairing some dings, a big crease dent in the side, and the holes left by the factory 95 spoiler after I installed the turbo style spoiler. I'll be posting some before and after photos come Tuesday or Wednesday (when I get the car back) to show you how good of a job they did. I'm sure they'll do an excellent job because the painter there is very good.

That's cool-I'm looking forward to the pictures. Did you stay with the stock color, or move to a different one? When will the car be ready? Also, you can only post in the Newbie forum because your post count isn't greater than 50.

I had my car painted by maaco, and i was pleased with it. But about a month after i got it painted, i had some paint spilt on my car by a construction company, so now i have a $3000 paint job.

i had my eclipse painted by maaco. Looked great for 5 months,, then it started to peel

I don't know what prices are for paint job in the us, but I paid 850 for just the paint in canada.

I have a friend who went there for a paint job on his neon. I think he paid around $1500 for them to sand and primer and do the paint. It didnt look that bad for a cheap paint job at first, but like the other guy said, after about 6 months the clear coat started to peel right off and the paint chipped away and looked even worse than what it did before he had it done. But they may have just been layzie and done a real crappy job when they did it. But good luck to you n i hope they have someone good do it for you. Post some pics when it's done so we can see.:thumb:

here's a few before pictures. Also, in these pictures I did not have the 97-99 side skirts installed, the 97-99 rear bumper on and the side markers put in the front bumper. I installed them after I took the pictures sorry about not taking them after I installed everything. Here are the before pictures. I'll be posting the after pictures Tuesday or Wednesday. Also, the paint job has a 5 year warranty in case something goes wrong with the paint (like peeling) they'll fix for free. Oh, and yes I'm sticking to the factory black paint.

well hope you have more luck than me... but IMO, dont use maaco.... my paint job is already cracking around the rear hatch outlines...

and they break stuff, my windshield nozzles, door jam sensor, sideskirt...

One of the perks of having a air compressor and spray gun. Before i had my equipment, my friend had his mustang touched up in the rear from a hit and run, they did horrible body work and the paint didn't blend well with the rest of the car, being that, his car only looks good in the dark. Just watch out.

WTF over a grand for a maaco paint job? My buddy's got a used car lot and we get em done for under $400 at maaco or econopaint. Sure they overspray everything, but if you do the prep it doesn't come out terrible. Wouldn't send my car to em though...

+1. You get what you pay for and yes paint is high dollar in the U.S too. I hate to slam anyone but I have never seen a good paint job come out of Mayco.....ever.

Very pricey there. Hopefully they made it more than worth your while. Just don't forget to wait three months and then run it through the Meguiar's system and keep that paint perfect for life.

yeah it's over $1,000 because it isn't the cheap presidential paint job that most people get. It's there signature paint job (their best one). They have ambassador, presidential, supreme, and signature. Signature comes with a longer warranty and they apply a clear coat on top on the base coat unlike the other packages where it's no clear coat at all or integrated clearcoat with shorter warranties. I've seen their work here and I'm confident it'll last (if it doesn't it'll get fixed for free) and it'll look great just like all the cars I've seen come out their shop.

my sisters wanted to repaint her 2000 camry. the paint was flaking and faded. it was a silver color. she wanted OEM silver color. they said they will try their best to match it. paint was CRAP. its more grey than silver. they had cracks in their paint. over spray everywhere. they didnt know how to mask the emblems. got paint on the tails. under the car. it was a complete mess up. bad place to get your car painted..

bullshit it is all really about luck up there. i paid 400 for a paint job one time it was like a discounted price because it was like that time of the year or whatever half off bullsht. well anyway people thought it was a 3,000 dollar paint job and i was like dude... it was, im rich son. ya i paid 400 for it and they had to get rid of the rust and pull all my dings out

that was after their paintjob. it may not be the best in the world but it damn sure isnt bad at all. literally only paid 400 for it

i am basically a cheap dirty bastard and i refuse to give anyone a shit ton of money for something i dont think is worth it. so i got lucky with maaco... ONTOP of all of this if maaco doesnt do a good job you can tell them to redo it. i have had my car painted there twice. i made them redo it 3 times. i know its ####ed up and im a dick but who cares. yea the guy that did it the first time sucked balls but eventually i got a good paint job or atleast a descent one.

If you have already paid Maaco, then it is probably too late to give you this advice...but there is a reason they charge so little. They skimp on the most important steps of the paint process. The prep is done most the time by just quickly running over the car with a wet scotchbrite pad (not nearly efficent enough). Sure, your paint might stick for a while, but after some heat/cold exposure, that will all change for the worse. Without a good primer/sealer/base/clear combo, you will always have problems with long term adhesion. I can't count how many Maaco paintjobs I have fixed over the years at my shop. I have seen where they use bondo right over the old paint (very bad):nono: then sprayed base or enamel over it. You really do get what you pay for. It just depends on what you want. Hope this helps -

I had a Maaco paint job on a VW GTI. It lasted about 6 months. But dont get me wrong, it looked good for 6 months. Then anywhere there was a seam the paint began chipping. Although, its all who paints the car. So if you know the guy at Maaco has done good jobs in the past, you may be ok. Just saying Maaco in general sucks......is not fair. The guy at Maaco that painted my car sucked.....

The only way I would ever use mako is if I was selling the car. But now that I have all the supplys to paint my cars I don't. I spend about $600 on paint and materials to do a cheap one-step acrylic enamel. And about $1,000 for paint and material for base coat clear (cheaper base and clear)

That does not even include the countless hours of labor.

As a mater of a fact a freind and I are going to paint his Miata and he is looking at $750 in paint alone. We still have to do some body work on it.

sorry guys I've been busy with my girl and work. Here's one pic I'll take more pictures later when I can find the memory stick for my camera. They told me to wait a month before I start washing and waxing it, and I can only clean it with water. My door caps won't pop in. I think the clips are messed up so I need to get new ones when I get paid. I'm happy with what they did, and if the paint goes bad it'll get fixed because the 5 year warranty on it.

Thats cool. As long as you keep the warranty card and utilize it when needed you're good. Make sure to make copies of your receipts and warranty. They will try to dick you if you ever go back 1 or 2 years down the road.
